cant access anything on the console. signed out and tells me to sign in with controller

so i was playing xbox one today. suddenly my profile signs out and tells me to sign in using the controller. ok sure.... problem is.. i only use a controller and for some reason i cant get anything to function. i press the home button and the side bar flashes.
when i do finally get the side bar up, i cant do anything with it because the controller is still interacting with the home screen in the background. it wont let me play any of the games, and i cant use cortana to access the settings menu or anything at all
for that matter. the console was working flawlessly until this point... what gives?

A Question About Owning 3 Or More Xbox Ones!

yup, your home console will have access to all of you digital games, then you can sign in on second console and have access for as long as you're signed into that console, trying to sign in on a third console will sign you out of the second console and it
will lose its access to the digital games.

 

fixed my own issue.... not sure if it was a fluke or not. basically all i did was unplug the power then plug it back in then turned it back on. it did a full reset from the xbox one starting screen thing and works fine now
