Cannot update Xbox One Controller on PC

When I connect my Xbox One controller (old version without the built-in 3.5 mm port) on my Windows 10 PC and run the Xbox Accessories app, it says "Update Required". So I click on the button. After a few minutes I just get an error message that says, "Sorry,
we couldn't update the controller. Unplug it, plug it back in, and try again." Needless to say, I've already done that many times, and it doesn't work. Here's a list of things I've already done in an attempt to fix the problem (in no particular order):

• Installed Windows 10 TH2 (November update)
• Updated the controller's drivers via device manager, as well as uninstalling/reinstalling drivers
  
• "Unplug it, plug it back in, and try again" as suggested by the error message
  
• Used a different USB cable instead of the one that came with the controller
• Pressed the home button (the big X) on the controller when running the Xbox Accessories app
  
• Ensured that Windows 10 was fully updated
• Tried inserting into different USB ports on my PC, including USB 3.0 ports
• Made sure no other Xbox peripheral (like an Xbox 360 controller) was connected at the same time
  

There were probably a few other things I've tried that I forget right now, but nothing has worked so far. The good news is that technically the controller works, but it has some little weird quirks like the controller randomly vibrating, or being somewhat
unresponsive, or not being recognized by a few games. I've never had this problem with my Xbox 360 controller which is why I've reverted back to using that. I just feel bad for having wasted $50 to $60 with a seemingly faulty controller (otherwise, it feels
great in my hands from an ergonomics point of view).

I would definitely like some help here. Thanks!

P.S. - Please don't say that my problem is that I have Windows 10. Unless you have a direct report/evidence to prove that there's an issue with Xbox One controllers on Windows 10, I don't need your opinions as to why Windows 10 is bad or whatever.
For the most part, Windows 10 has been fine on my end.

I already posted this issue on a different section of the forums but I was curious if I would actually get some help here since technically my problem is on the Windows side of things, not the Xbox One console.

But anyway, long story short, I cannot update my Xbox One controller on Windows 10 when using the Xbox Accessories app. My controller is the old version, which does not have the 3.5 mm port. For more info regarding the controller and the steps I've already

You can also try to update the controller on the pc as well. Here is a link to get your controller updated via pc

W10 is supposed to automatically download the most recent updates and install this, however you might be able to try the solutions given for W8.1 and prior to update your Xbox controller

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yeah my issue isn't with drivers since the drivers do install just fine, but it's regarding firmware updates to the controller. I checked out that site you linked me to but unfortunately I've already gone through all that without
success. In fact, I cannot even proceed with the suggested tips to download the controller drivers for Windows 8.1 because the site it links us to, the Microsoft Update Catalog, requires Internet Explorer (not to be confused with Microsoft Edge that comes
with Windows 10). And even if I use either the Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge that's in Windows 10 I still cannot access the page because it doesn't recognize me using a pre-Windows 10 version of Internet Explorer. Long story short, no success here, but
