Cannot turn off auto-renewal

Despite what the support article says, there is no option to turn off auto-renewal on the website.

Supposedly, if you're set to auto-renew, then under subscriptions it's supposed to say, "set to renew on XX/XX/XX." If it doesn't say that, I'm told, then you're not set to auto-renew and thus don't need to worry about it.

Except it doesn't say that for me and yet I just got an e-mail from Xbox saying my account will auto-renew for an additional year a couple of weeks from now...lol.

Such a slimy maneuver for a multi-billion dollar organization. There is no way to cancel on the website as they claim.

Microsoft is stealing my money

You cannot turn off auto-renewal by email. Those emails don't ask you if you want to turn it off, they're just to inform you that you're going to be charged. The only way to turn off auto-renewal is to call customer support.

if you got an outstanding balance you cannot turn off auto renewal untill balance is paid

LOL just saw the sticky article here. Apparently they changed the method for accomplishing this, but have not updated their help articles. It is far from intuitive, as the option to do it is nowhere to be found on the subscription pages. Oh well, ADIOS Xbox

You could always call-in and ask the billing department to resolve that for you, if you are unable to do so yourself. Would get done in a matter of a few minutes.

The best option to turn off auto renewal is to do it by chat. You will sign in on www.xbox.com and then go to the contact us section and then go into the chat for auto renewal. They can turn auto renewal off but keep in mind that they cannot remove the
card until the membertship is over. For the code you will need to update your alternative information at
http://account.live.com.

You will still need to call support and turn off the auto renewal. However, it would be best to turn off auto renew and then wait till you revert to silver to remove your card. So long as you are a gold member the card cannot be removed from your account
because it is linked.

Hey Ognar! Unfortunately as you have seen by now, your email takes around 30 days to change now for security reasons. That is probably why it states it will not change until that date. Silent Phoenix answered your original question, just clarifying the email
