Cannot tie new kids accounts to my parent account. error 0x80a400008

Hi. I've been trying to create accounts for my kids all day, everytime it gets to the point where I tie the accounts to my account as a parent, I get the aforementioned error code. I've followed every instruction on the support page but nothing is working.
Help please, I have 2 kids excited fro their new xmas present who can't use it properly!

Gamertag missing

To make the story short:

- a did a mistake removing from family the account of my child

- I added back the account and changed email to a new one

- both accounts (child and parent) see each other as family members

Problems:

- parent privacy & security settings : cannot see my child's gamertag

- child - privacy & security settings : I get an error

- child - change gamertag: error too

- parent can log in to xbox live

- child cannot log in xbox live: error says parent account is not valid

Help to solve this mess is needed!!!

Tying XBox live to other accounts on my 360.

I have a live account, and would like to tie my kids accounts to my live account. Is that possible, or do I have to get separate XBox live accounts for my kids? Thank You.

Thanks for the ample help xbox support! Phenomenal advice! In the end I just made adult account for the kids since nothing else would work.

You cannot transfer history on another account...

But you can leave this account to your kid and set as a child account, then make a new one for you and set a family so that you can control the kid account...

How do I set account as child? Will my email still be attached to the account? When my wife logs in to her separate MS family account, where this account was a parent, will it now be a child too?

Microsoft provide the tools for parents to protect them, these have to be implemented by the parents as Microsoft cannot do this, but there are a lot of parents that don't care, they make accounts for the kids and put the DOB so they are over 18 to get rid of restrictions and then leave them to it, most parents are clueless.

My kids have accounts under mine which i control what they play and do and who they can talk too.

Hi Jim,

You don't need to end your old one just choose to download it. Enter your Microsoft Account (MSA) email and password when prompted. If you wish to create a new one for your kids then just sign them up for a MSA

support.xbox.com/.../manage-your-microsoft-account-faq. Also if you set them with child accounts and tie your adult account as parent you will have more control what they can do while they would be online.

you say they are playing under your microsoft account, they in fact all need their own accounts.

create 3 new accounts for the kids and as they are kids it will ask for an adult account, then it creates a family with your account being the parental one.

this will give you parental controls over theirs and they can all play then.
