Cannot talk in game or other mic related activities.

After enduring yet another unjust suspension, my mic will no longer allow my voice to be heard in game or in other mic functions. And no the suspension is not ongoing, it wasn't even a mic related issue, if anything my ability to message should be (not really) disabled and that works fine. I've tried a alternative account just to see what's up and it then works just fine. Yes i've checked the settings, So the question is: WHAT GOES?

Clean your console's MAC, restart your internet devices for a few minutes, and try again.

To clean the MAC follow this path

Settings>general>network settings>advanced settings>alternative MAC address and click clear and restart the console when prompted.

If the problem persits reset the console to factory defaults, you won't lose anything but you will need to log in with your account again. Email and password are required.

Follow this path and select reset keeping games and app.

In 5 to 10 minutes you will finish reconfiguring your console

To reset the console>

Settings> System> Console Info> Reset Console

***Do not reset your console without having your account email and password.***

I have the same problem, but situation is slightly different. My old gtag got banned for communication/harASSment, so I made a new gtag. Why is game/party chat not working for me? It only works if they're my friend and Im in their party.

Not everyone wants to talk into a mic, or listen to other players talk just to play a game. There are multiple ways to communicate in various games that don't require a mic, like Battlefield series and APEX.

Pretty simple, really. Why wouldn't the game group people with mics together? If you plug in your mic you must intend to talk to other people. If you don't plug in a mic you don't intend to talk to other people. It only makes sense to group people that want
to communicate together. Same with people that don't want to hear a bunch of chatter.

What exactly is your reason for turning off Mic Monitoring?

If you simply don't want to be heard, use the Mute function of the headset to temporarily disable the microphone.

Mic monitoring prevents other players to constantly hear background noise when you're not talking. So it's a Good Thing (TM) to have it active.

But if you could explain why you don't want that, maybe we can help with other solutions?
