Cannot swap emails for account.

I have an old xbox account from my 360 days, that I want to change the email on. I was told to go onto my xbox, and go to the account/security, then to change microsoft account or whatever, and go from there. I went there, and followed the instructions
to put in a new email, that does not already have an xbox account, and I did, but was told "Sorry we cant change your microsoft account. For more info, go to Xbox.com/AccountSwap". When I went there i got: https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/account-profile/manage-account/forgot-microsoft-account-solution which
was not what I needed, or wanted. So I made a NEW outlook account, tried again, and got the same result. All I want to do is move the account over from one email to another.

If the email that you are trying to add to the old account is already a Microsoft account you will not be able to put the email onto the old account since it would not know what account to sign into when you go to sign into the account.

You would either need to put in an email that is not already a Microsoft account.

Just to make sure, you've gone to https://account.microsoft.com/profile/ > Manage how you sign into Microsoft (on the right next to the current email address on the profile)
> and then added the new email address alias to your profile. Once added to your account, you went to that email and verified the email account?

Once verified, and you select to make it primary, that's when you got the error?

I'm also running into this issue. Iv'e been playing on my original email for 6 years now, but want to change it to my new main account that all my email and Windows 8 is synced with. I have tried the posted method to swap the accounts around, but I get
the same message stating that I cannot swap at this time. Very frustrating as I'm trying to consolidate a few emails into one.

When you sign into an account with no gamertag on xbox.com or your console you will be prompt with a message "To create an Xbox profile--> New Gamertag" Most likely you accepted the terms with your new email. Next time cancel the process or do not sign
on to xbox.com or your console at all after you have created a new account. I recommend you create the account online rather than on the xbox.

Step 1) Create a new account. Do not sign into Xbox.com or the console with this account.or it will prompt you to create a new profile(gamertag).

Here is the overview after completing step 1.

Gamertag A (Main Gamertag) is linked to Microsoft account 1 (Old Email).
Gamertag B (2nd Gamertag) is linked to Microsoft account 2 (2nd Email)
Microsoft account 3 is free. (new email)

Step 2) Sign on to xbox with your main account. Change the email associated with the NEW ACCOUNT

Gamertag A (Main Gamertag) is linked to Microsoft account 3 (new Email).
Gamertag B (2nd Gamertag) is linked to Microsoft account 2 (2nd Email)
Microsoft account 1 is free. (old email )

You should be done at this point.

I am so sorry you are having issues with your Microsoft account,

Unfortunately, this should not work as other services should not update to your new alias.

I would contact Epic Games support about the change and see if they can change your account information with an agreement.
