    I have been trying to sign into Xbox Live Via Xbox Beta, Console Companion, Sea of thieve, and Forza Horizon 4 for the past few days and I cannot seem to connect.

    I have attempted troubleshooting with all the usual methods, Uninstall Reinstall, Reboot PC, use another account (though i can only get this far on Windows Store), etc. and a few more specific methods listed in the support pages and in the forums but to
    no avail.

    Xbox Beta appears to work until I find out I'm not actually signed in, and if i try to i get a grey window that does not change. i can only assume this is a broken sign in window.

    Console Companion will show the spinning circle for 5-10 mins, then show the same grey window for another few mins, before finally going back to the original window with a sign in button, that restarts the process, and an error code (0x409) 0x80080005. i
    have searched this code on the forum, and once again all solutions posed do not appear to have any effect.

    Sea Of Thieves also appears to work at first, but as soon as i hit the start button and the loading sequence starts it gets stuck at Signing In or it's Piratey equivalent. then the same grey box appears for a few minutes before it disapears and i get the message
    You Must Be Signed In To Xbox Live To Play Sea Of Thieves.

    Forza (launched from shortcut or Xbox Beta) gets to the screen when the camera orbits the McLaren and when i press the continue key it opens the same grey window for a few minutes before closing and saying Sign In Needed. and another continue button to restart
    the process.

    But the bit that really gets me is that i tried to sign in on a family members machine on the same Network, just to check if it worked, and it worked no questions asked.

    Needless to say Using this other machine is not a possibility as it is in use by other members of my family for other things. So clearly it is not network problem, or a server is overloaded problem as it lets that machine connect really quite easily.

    Please if anyone has a solution not already in the forum, enlighten me because this is driving me up the wall!

    • Make sure you’re signed in only on this machine. If you have signed in to any other PC’s with the same account lately, ensure you’ve signed out everywhere else.
    • Launch the Xbox App prior to launching the game, and ensure that your profile signs into Xbox Live without issue.

    I have tried clearing cache, setting up a static iP address, doing a full reset on my console (where you clear it out but keep games and apps) and nothing has resolved this issue.

    I still cannot connect to Xbox live when playing an Xbox 360 game and since I deleted my account in an effort to re-download it, it is gone and I can't even sign into my Xbox 360 online account. And CANNOT PLAY ANY OF MY GAMES THAT REQUIRE ME TO SIGN IN.

    Regarding the sign in issue: There is an ongoing issue with Xbox Live in which some people cannot sign in. I would check
    support.xbox.com/.../xbox-live-status every 30 minutes for updates regarding the status of Xbox Live until the issue is resolved. I understand why you feel upset over this issue as
    I cannot sign into my gamertag on my Xbox One right now due to this issue.

    As to why you can't play your games offline, you are required to be signed into Xbox Live for games that have been downloaded if the console you are on isn't designated as your home console. Also, if you have any games on disc, you can still play those offline
    unless it is an online only game such as Titanfall.

    Thank you for the welcome and for the confirmation that it is possible to install on multiple devices. Knowing this is very helpful. I have followed your advice and signed out of the Xbox Live App on my one machine, and then even turned the machine off after
    logging out. I then logged on to my 2nd machine, loaded the Xbox Live App and started the Forza Horizons 4 game. The same result unfortunately. The game hangs on the opening screen, and then after around 2 minutes just closes the window.

    Any other ideas?

    Gold Membership - 360 and One

    Your gold membership is tied to your xbox live account. Therefore when you sign in, as the xbox live account holder on either system (any XBOX system actually) your gold membership carries over. However, you cannot be signed into two systems at the same
    time. If I had both my xbox 360 and my Xbox one on the same time, and tried to sign in on one while signed in on the other, it would sign me off on the other system.

    If you have multiple people wanting to play in the same household, they need their own xbox live account and their own membership.
