Cannot sign into my XBox Live account on Windows 8 games on my Windows 10 machine

That link should take you to the 8.1 Apps and Window App Store section, then select the "Using Games" option from the right column. They would be best suited to assist at this point.

All of the apps on your Windows 8 machine will use whatever account is used to sign into the computer. You will want to logout of the account you're currently using and then log into Windows 8 using the account that is associated with your Xbox Live account.
Then, when you launch the game, it will automatically log you into your Xbox Live account.

I cannot sign into my account in Mahjong. When I click on the games, the window asking me to sign into my Microsoft account comes up. I type in my e-mail address and password and a screen requesting permission to access and update my XBox live comes up.
When I click on the yes button, it goes back to the game screen and prompts me that it cannot sign me in. The solitaire and tap tiles are letting me sign in with no problems. I am using Windows 8.

... To add to the above. To eliminate that it was not a local issue on my windows 10 machine, I completely formatted the machine and did a clean install of windows 10 on another machine I had sitting around. After installed windows 10, doing all the updates,
and then trying to connect to minecraft through my xbox live account I received the exact same error message. This should eliminate that this is an issue locally on my computer and points more toward an issue with xbox live account perhaps?
Microsoft ... going to need your help.

Also: I can "connect" and sign into xbox live just fine. It only applies to streaming or downloading content from the xbox video store ON A WINDOWS 8 MACHINE. Windows 7 machine in zune works fine. ALSO, it works sporadically. Sometimes i've made it throguh
an entire movie after several false starts. Sometimes it's won't play at all. This behavior exists on two separate machines. Both run Windows 8. It affects the Video app as well as the Zune player. The zune player on the windows 7 laptop works fine (without
any resetting).

It's not my connection.

Installing / reinstalling / power cycling doesn't do anything.

please move past the most basic of troubleshooting.
