Cannot sign in.

Last night I couldn't sign in to Live, and the website was behaving strangely too. I checked the service alerts and there was a note about sign in issues... fine.

This morning, 9 hours later, I'm having the exact same issues but according the the alerts page, everything is up, running and normal.

What's currently happening is:

• Takes a very long time to "sign-in".
• Occasionally I get "Some features are unavailable", sometimes I don't.
• Gamerscore is 0.
• Gamerpic doesn't load, and the white box placeholder image flashes erratically.
  
• Non-disc games ask me to sign-in on the profile that purchased them, despite the fact that I am "signed-in", and my current profile is not on the list. Therefore I cannot play any downloaded games.
  
• Hangs on Recent, My Games, Friends... just about every menu.
• Ads do not load. (Boohoo.)

Everything is clearly not up and running. Sort it out.

Oh, hey... This time, it hasn't even registered the name of my gamertag.

Then I started a party and it crashed.

If you haven't already, try the following steps up front and let us know how that goes and we'll go from there.

Clear Xbox system cache (3 times in a row)

1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
   
2. Select Storage or Memory.
3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.
4. Select Clear System Cache.
5. Clear your Xbox system cache 3 times in row.

Restart your console.

Download Xbox LIVE profile.

1. Press the XboxGuide button on your controller (large X button in the center of your controller).
   
2. Select Download Profile (Not seeing Download Profile? Press
   X to sign out of your profile.).
3. Enter the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox LIVE gamertag.
4. Enter your Microsoft account password.

Post back and let us know how that goes.

Seems like it will download to a different storage device, so I guess deleting the one that's already stored would solve that.

Let's see if this download finishes and If it fixes anything.

I have my doubts though...

The system menu took several minutes to access and I wasn't even signed in.

 

Okay, so...

Now I can sign-in and that all seems to be working, but I can't connect to Xbox Live at all, and it takes a similarly long time to decide it can't connect as before.

All menus still hang for minutes each time I try to access them.

 

Strangely I can eventually connect to Xbox Live, but only if I'm not signed in at all.

So it's not a connection issue on my end.

 

Error code 8007045D indicates possible corruption on your hard drive.

The first step is to secure your profile and to have it safely stored to a USB flash drive.

With your Xbox turned off,
safely remove the hard drive and plug in a
USB flash drive configured for use with the Xbox 360.

Turn on your Xbox and download your profile from LIVE to USB.

Turn off your Xbox and remove the USB flash drive and add the hard drive back.

Turn on your console,
delete profile only, clear cache, and
download profile from LIVE.

Well, the problem is definitely my harddrive.

Works as normal with my harddrive removed and using a USB.

With the harddrive and no USB I can now connect, but it's as slow as before, and many things never load such as other's gamerpics. So problem, not quite solved, but certainly identified.

 

Have you browsed the hard drive for any corrupted contents? Corrupted contents is shown as an yellow exclamation mark.

 

So far I haven't found anything, but progress is slow due to the hanging. I'm just deleting anything unnecessary as I go anyway in case I find it like that too...

Did you delete your profile (Delete Profile Only) from hard drive, as instructed per my pre-previous post?

Make sure you delete all corrupted contents!
