Cannot sign in to Jigsaw or Minesweeper

I've been playing XBox Games Minesweeper, Solitaire, and Jigsaw on my PC since 2014. The system uses the auto sign in. Yesterday, Jigsaw would not sign me in and today Minesweeper won't. So far, Solitaire is not impacted.

Instead of signing me in, I get the blue bar stating "Do you want to install this item?" Price: Free Description: Activate your game

With "install" or "cancel" being the choices.

Hit install and the text is now "your purchase couldn't be completed" "please try again later" with "close" being the only choice

hit close and a new window pops up near the sign in area.

It tells me to go to the Store go to settings, accounts and preferences to sign in with the purchasing account. If this doesn't fix the issue, uninstall, then reinstall the app. (Both Minesweeper and Jigsaw do the same thing.)

I went to Store, Accounts (there is no "settings and preferences" option) to check things out. I only play free games, so there is no payment method listed. There was a red sentence stating that I need to add a purchase method to install apps. I click
on the "add payment method" but nothing happens.

Since then I've gone to the Microsoft website, logged in and added a payment method there. I also looked for the "store" on the web, but can't find it.

I've playing these games for 4 years, so I don't want to take the chance of losing 4 years of playing by doing an uninstall and reinstall.

Any ideas?

Gamertag on MIcrosoft Jigsaw

I changed my gamertag, but now I cannot sign in to Jigsaw. How do I change my sign-in information on Jigsaw so I can sign in?

same problem here with jigsaw and minesweeper. i can sign in to the store app with no problem tho.

I have another thing too, a weird thing! the "restore down/maximize" button disappeared from minesweeper!!

that all happened after I applied the latest windows updates. and no I didn't change any settings.
