Cannot sign in at all without internet connection?

Hi guys, I am aware that Xbl is experiencing problems, however this has raised a question for me. Currently, the xbox live service is having issues but I cannot sign into the xbox one console at all, even to play games offline. This page here indicates you
can actually sign in without an internet connection at all to play offline http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/get-the-facts Could anyone shed some light as to why I can't sign in offline? When I power up my xbox, it says use a controller to sign in, then when
select my profile is indicates it was unable to sign me in and to try again later. So, it appears I cannot use my xbox one offline at all?

Same problem here too! Won't let me sign in at all. Says my xbox cannot connect to xbox live. Connection test shows it getting on the internet just fine just cannot connect to xbox.

You need to disconnect wireless aswell to sign in offline. I found that I cannot play Blu Ray or CD discs without an Internet connection. Like, what?

 

unplug your cable or turn off your wifi. Problem fixed. you can now sign in offline.

 

Thanks! I'll give that a shot- I suspect you mean turn off the wifi from within the xbox one settings app?

Seems strange to me that it doesn't fail back to offline mode on it's own though; like 360 does...

 

Its just an auto sign in thing. Its meant to make things work easier. Till there is a sign in bug, then this happens... its been a long day.

 

Quite often a hard reboot will also resolve this issue, simply hold your finger on the on/off button for around 8-10 seconds (the light will go off) Then turn it back on.

 

Ok so that answer did not work for me there should be another way. this is what I did. I did the hard reset on the console. turned the console back on and still it said that I need to connect to XBL to sign in. any other ways to fix this
