Cannot Run Sea of Thieves on Laptop (But Can on Desktop)

I hope this is the right spot for this question--please let me know if not!

I am able to play Sea of Thieves without any difficulty on my desktop computer. I installed it on my travel laptop and have never been able to play it. It installs without difficulty. Both of these are machines that easily meet the minimum requirements to play the game and are both running the same version of Windows 10. On the laptop, I always receive the error "The Sea of Thieves Services are temporarily unavailable. Please try again later (Daffodilbeard)." It gets to "loading suplies" when trying to start and has never gotten beyond that point.

On the SoT support page, it claims this means: "Something has happened on our side that we're working to fix." That does not seem to be correct, however, as I can play it on my other computer literally sitting next to this laptop, and it has always given this same error, and I have never been successful in playing the game on this machine.

The laptop in question is running Windows 10, and I have the game through XBox, not Steam.

I have tried the following:

- Signing out of the XBox app multiple times

- Removing all of the "xbl_ticket" entries in Credentials Manager

- Restarting the computer multiple times

- Completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game

- Confirming that Sea of Thieves is on the allow list in Windows Defender

- Turning off all antivirus and firewall programs, including Windows Defender

- Trying to run it with a VPN and without

- Trying it at three different locations, on three different Wifi networks with three different ISPs (home and away)

- Unistalling and reinstalling the XBox and XBox Live apps

- Resetting the XBox Game Bar app (system won't allow for uninstalling)

I then spoke with the Sea of Thieves support, and I did the following at their request:

- Resetting the Sea of Thieves app

- Adjusting the clock on my machine to make sure that time zone is set automatically

- Confirmed that "IP Helper" has no dependencies that are not running

- Resetting Windows Store and Gaming Services

- Ran a cleanup script they provided that completely removed the game from my system and then reinstalled it

Sea of Thieves support, after escalating the ticket, have said they have "exhausted all of the troubleshooting that we have to offer."

That's why

You are forgetting the gpu is a MOBILE gpu

Most likely shared memory

Compared to the 770 gtx the gtx does spades above the 980M

You are missing the texture proccessing you need 16 if I remember correctly

The texture proccessing on the gtx is 4x the performance and yes flight sim is texture proccessors dependent

Because the 980 M barely performs better then the 770 but in mobile you have to go a bit higher in power to make up for it that's why you are getting hit

100gflips more but remember you are lacking in memory speed and proccessing

I'm not using a VPN server with it.

I tried the things in the reddit post and a couple related MS posts as well (How to enable Teredo windows 10 - Microsoft Community) (Teredo Tunneling Adapter Is Missing - Microsoft Community)

The post there was really for Windows 10 Pro. Do you know what the "Type" should be in Teredo settings for Windows 10 Home? (enterpriseuser for Pro...I've also tried client. "default" makes it "disabled" again).

So ironically, on my home PC, I checked the XBox Networking, and it says Teredo is unable to qualify/server connectivity: blocked, but the game is working just great.

I'm so confused.

I went to Xbox Networking, and Teredo initially said it was unable to qualify. I did the "fix" and restarted, and now it says Teredo is Open. Unfortunately, the game still wouldn't get past the connecting stage.

I followed all of the solutions on that link, even though Teredo says it is working. I verified that there are no HOSTS file entries for the Teredo server listed in the command prompt. Though it wasn't, there was an entry for Teredo in there, so I removed that and restarted the computer. I verified that Teredo said Open in Xbox Networking, but the game would not get past the connecting stage.

Just to check, I completely removed my existing HOSTS file and restarted the computer, reset Sea of Thieves, checked to make sure Teredo still showed as Open, verified again that Sea of Thieves was an allowed application through Windows Defender Firewall, and tried the game. Still no luck.

So maybe a little progress in getting Teredo to say it is working? But still not able to get past the loading screen.

If you can’t connect to an Xbox multiplayer game on Windows 10, go to Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking.

Look for NAT Type. If the status says Teredo is unable to qualify, it means your PC is unable to obtain a Teredo IP address.

Try the following solutions in order. Move on to the next one only if the previous one didn’t resolve the issue

That would be possible if you have the game on steam but you should not be able to play multiplayer games trough the Xbox app, unless that happens the same, showing you one information but really being a different one, if the PC has the issues since the purchase you could try a clean windows installation, could be an issue with some software included on the laptop
