    Cannot read disc


    My xbox 360 s has started to say that my discs cannot be read, and that i should clean them. My discs are spotless so that aint the problem. Sometimes the game (doesnt matter which) starts and plays for a while, then out of the blue, the disc cannot be read
    and stops

    cannot read game disc

    I have tried all the troubleshooting onthe forum and nothing works. My xbox will play mw3 one time and then the next nothing. just say to open tray and cant red disc. I know it is my console and not the disc becuase i have tried my game on anothe console
    it works and i have tried other games on my xbox and it still wont read disc. And the tray wont open half the time. I am tired of it taking anywhere from 2 hours to 2 days to play a game. Please someone help. I dont have the money to send it in for repairs

    I decided to record the noise from startup to it asking to open tray at menu, then closing the tray with a disc inside again & letting it spin. Im sorry for the thudding noises, the mics cable is surrounded by hard plastic & it seems to do that whenever
    I barely tap it on the desk.

    Most of that noise is apparently typical of benQ drives, but someone might be able to pinpoint any abnormal noise that indicates hardware failure or not I guess.

    Hi there Necromiki, its sounds like your console may be broken if it can not ready any kind of discs. You may wan't to look into a repair option. You can find more information about that here

    If you've already gone through the solution steps noted in the disc drive solution guide
    here then unfortunately there's nothing we would be able to personally do to help you out. This means that your console is having an issue with
    the disc drive and it needs to be sent in for a repair.

    There's really no way around that. You can start the repair process by going

    You would need a HDD to install the game to. You'd also be installing corrupt files because it would need to read files from the disc to install. If it can't read the disc then it obviously cannot install the files.
