Cannot Read Disc on Xbox 360

There seems to be a good deal of content on the Internet from people whose Xbox 360 DVD drives have failed. Well mine seems to have too now. I've tried several, previously working, discs and nothing seems to load. My most recent purchase, FIFA 2014 for my
son's birthday was the disc we first noticed the issue on. The disc is clean, and whilst the Xbox is a couple of years old now, it's not heavily used. Is there anything I should consider doing before either getting it repaired, or replaced with an Xbox One?
Should I return it to MS for repair or are there any decent indi repairs shops I should consider?

False The xbox one console cannot read the data on a 360 disc.

The only way the xbox one could play 360 games would be via a game streaming service

 

Microsoft are the only ones who can repair it.

Getting it repaired by someone else will end up with the console being banned.

 

just send it to microsoft wait two weeks and pray that it works at all when it comes back and ps microsoft have no way of telling whether a console has being worked on with the original xbox 360 saying you would get band for opening your console was just
a way to stop people opening there console
