    Cannot purchase xbox gold


    Everytime i try to purchase xbox gold for my profile on xbox 1, it tells me try a different purchase method. But when my little brother purchases it, he is allowed. Why is this happening. This hasnt happened before and i am getting pretty livid about it.
    If i cannot find help here i am going back to PS4 because i shouldnt have to go out of my way just to drive 30 min to gamestop to purchase a microsoft points card. I guarantee Sony would like my money.

    A gift card and an Xbox live gold subscription are 2 different things. Currently, currency in your account cannot be used to purchase an Xbox Live Gold subscription. So you would either have to purchase a subscription card or purchase it directly on the
    website/Xbox.

    It says "Use a different way to pay" Your purchase can't be completed with this payment option. Try a different or new way to pay.

    FYI, Microsoft points were discontinued in 2013, so you wouldn't be able to get one at Gamestop anyway. You also can't use them to purchase gold so it wouldn't have helped either.

    If they were Xbox gift cards, meaning they added currency to your account, you cannot use those funds to purchase gold. Gold can only be purchased via credit card/Paypal or by purchasing a prepaid gold card.
