Cannot purchase GOLD membership

i've been trying to purchase a gold membership, but my debit card has its expiry date set in 2022 which wasn't an option. I logged on to my microsoft account and added my payment option through there since it had the option to add till 2034

However, even after the debit card showed up as a payment option in my 360, it couldn't complete the transaction giving me the status code of 80190848. I did the basic troubleshooting of deleting my payment options and then adding my debit card again, but
it didn't help. All my billing info is accurate as well.

Since my region is India, as is my current location, i think the problem lies with my card being 'verified by visa'. i've seen other forum post about how this feature does not allow transactions through xbox even though it allows it through commerce.microsoft
but the debit card i previously used, which is my parents was also 'verified by visa' but i could purchase games with it through my xbox.

I'm really confused, and buying a gift card is barely an option since there is a sharp difference in price between buying a gold membership through xbox (350 inr) and a gift card ( 900 inr). i appreciate any help in this matter.

Sorry but currency cannot be used to purchase a Gold membership. You'll either need to add a credit card, paypal or purchase a prepaid code for a Gold membership.

You cannot use Microsoft Points to purchase Gold Membership or Zune Membership.

However you can use Microsoft Points to purchase arcade games or any other contents in the marketplace.

To purchase Gold Membership you will need a Payment Option or PayPal.

 

Also something I found out, every time i updated my payment options, a small fee was deducted (2 inr ), so it's really frustrating how i can't get authorization for gold membership, but money can be deducted.

yes, but i don't think the problem lies with the bank.

i just cant seem to get authorized. I've tried another card, but it is the same problem.
