Cannot Purchase from 360 Store

I own an xbox one. I'm trying to get Dungeon Siege 3 since it's free and I would love to try it out. I've learned I cannot purchase anything on the xbox 360 store because I have "no valid payment options". I have had 2-4 payment options on my account over
the last few days of trying to debug. I *can* make purchases on other Microsoft stores (xbox one, office, electronics) with all of these payment options.

Tried speaking to a tech/rep on Monday, but after all of the delete/update/renew/log out/log in/refresh/reopen testing/debugging, we could not find a solution. They said they'd send my issue to other technicians since it may be something behind the scenes.

I wanted to post on here to see if anyone has had this happen, has any input, or may have a solution. I would hate for this to be resolved -after- DS3 goes off of gold.

Unfortunately, to make a purchase of a 360 game on Xbox.com, even one reduced to $0.00, you need a payment method on file. One reason for this may be related to region issues, so as to make sure that you are "purchasing" from the correct region. However,
if you were to go through your console, this should not be needed.

 

Thanks for the reply. I do have valid payment options, 2 of them are currently on my account. When I log in and go to my profile, it says I have 2. When I check my billing options through my console, it shows both of them as well.

Are the xbox 360 store and xbox one store on different regions? If they're not...then my regions are set up just fine because I can purchase on the xbox one store.

Are you able to purchase 360 games through your xbox one console? I'm not able to, and I'm certainly not able to purchase DS3 through my console...it came up with a "Bundle Only" button, and then couldn't even find the bundle when I clicked on it.

With backwards compatibility, you cannot purchase Xbox 360 content through Xbox One. You must do it through Xbox 360 console or the website.

Unfortunately, I do not know about the stores. So many people are reporting issues with it.

From personal experience the online xbox.com store asked me payment details for my 360 and my One even though they were the same. Once done when 'buying' an item even a free one it worked okay.

Ensure when you go into the 360 game that the country on the bottom left hand side is correct. Often it can flip to another region for no reason. If its wrong just click on it to change it.

When trying to get the game go to the XBOX LIVE drop bar, select Games with Gold and hit the download next to the game picture there. It lets you in when the search doesn't. Try and buy from there. If it asks for a payment option - load it to that screen.

I'll make sure to try going through that link on my One (I don't know if I've tried that yet...but I think I may have). I've been sent to the purchasing page in just about every single way on my web browsers though (chrome, edge, even tried IE)...none of
them work for me. I've done this on three separate computers as well. So it's an account issue for sure. I double checked the regions, and those are correct.

The most frustrating part is when I click on the links provided to "Change my payment options" it just stalls, and if I open it in a new window, "Uh oh... that shouldn't have happened. It appears you've found a glitch in the system. Please try again later."

I have exactly the same problem as you. I also talked with a support rep today and he told me i had to have a 360 to buy 360 games (which means backwards compatibility is a bs) and they are trying to fix this problem. So i guess the real reason is i've never
had a 360 and have never set up an account or payment method with a 360. Did you have a 360 before?

You always had to have a payment option on file for a 360 game via the webstore

Only non 360 games allow currency purchases since the ms points concersion

You need to have an registered 360 console purchase at least once before a free purchase after that there is no issue

It's a compatibility check

To make sure you are downloading the correct version not an out of region version

 

It only has to be done once

Certain games are region locked not all but the free games has the first purchase compatible check this avoids tou violations like changing your locations for content you aren't supposed to get

 

Hey Will, glad to see I'm not the only one! I have not had a 360 before, so I'm sure this is the main part of the problem we're having.

A compatibility check is fine by me...but if it's a game that's compatible with xbox one (they're the ones offering the game to xbox one users...) then I shouldn't have any problems now should I? Stressing the fact that it only has to happen once doesn't
fix or even help the situation of users who don't have a 360 to complete this compatibility check.

The issue is still happening for me today and it's been 8 days since DS3 became available on Gold With only 6 days left, I'm pretty disappointed.

 

Nope it's not checking to the xbox one it is checking for a 360 compatibility and since those are hard coded into the machines and xbox one doesn't have a hard coded region it fails

 

You're just repeating what's been said. We already know this is the issue and MS has to fix it.

 

This only affects first time free purchases easily remedied by a visit to your game crazy or blockbuster with a rental of a xbox 360 or a friends
