Cannot power on XBOX from Windows 10 or SmartGlass

Hi,

I have set up a VPN connection to my home so I can play on my XBOX One when away from the house. When it works, it's GREAT (don't need to travel with a game console). I do admit that it's sometimes hard to find a good internet connection, but I digress...


Anyway, the problem I have is that about 50% of the time, I cannot power on the XBOX. I click the turn on button from the XBOX app on Windows 10 and after 10 seconds or so, I get:

"We can't turn on your console. Make sure this device is on the same network as your console and is set to instant-on."

Things I've tried:

1. If I have someone at my house power on the XBOX, I can connect (but this isn't always practical).

2. Once I've rebooted the XBOX, I can power it on once or twice remotely, but it eventually enters a state in which it no longer responds.

3. I have tried remote recycling the router. After it reboots, I can see the XBOX reconnects as a client, but again I cannot bring it out of sleep

4. I have restarted my own PC, and that has no affect

5. I have tried to start the XBOX with smartglass (I connect via VPN on my phone first), but I get the same error

6. I have tried the python power on script here: Schamper/xbox-remote-power, but it has no affect.

7. I have also verified that once the problem occurs, I have the same problem connecting from smartglass or a computer once I'm back at home. I know the VPN isn't causing this.

Is there anyway to keep the XBOX from going into a sleep state? I have browsed all the menus and this does not seem to be possible. It would be great if there was a fix for this. XBOX access on the road is great!

Unable to view achievements

I've done a factory reset and it's not worked. I can no longer view achievements on the smartglass app or the windows 10 app either

Smartglass - "Something went wrong when loading this section"

Windows 10 - "Something went wrong with loading this data. Invalid pointer"

Xbox One - "Cannot view achievements at this time. Please try again later"

 

App wont turn console on

Im having an issue with the xbox app on windows 10 and the smartglass app on ios not turning my console on. Ive tried with my Windows 10 PC (xbox app), Windows 10 laptop (xbox app) and my Ipad (smartglass app), none will power my console on, they will all
connect to it when its on and turn it off though. My Xbox is set to instant on and everything is on the same network with the same Microsoft account logged in. Any ideas?

I have this exact same issue. It started happening with the New Xbox One Experience. I like to use my xbox over the internet as well, and if I turn it on before I leave home, it's usually no problem connecting from wherever, but sometimes I forget to turn
it on, and in this case there's nothing I can do.

Another issue is that even if it is on, sometimes I get an error that says "We couldn't stream from your console. Try again later". The only way I've found to fix this is to disable streaming, restart the xbox, and enable again. Of course I have to physically
be at the xbox for this to work, so it ruins the game streaming. Also, I can control the xbox using the 'controller' feature of the xbox app in windows 10, and I know this is working because I can blindly try to control the console, and I can see that I am
switching between different apps or games in the "Now Playing" section in the xbox app.

Back before the NXOE, I could turn on the xbox from smart glass or the xbox app in windows 10 flawlessly. Then I got into the preview program and ever since NXOE it's been like this. I even traded in my old console towards the elite bundle, and I am having
the exact same issues. All of this leads me to believe it is in fact a problem with the new software.

This is frustrating because I have found a few others with this issue, and the microsoft reps that reply in the forum usually say that it's not a known issue (which is either complete BS, or they have no idea, because it obviously is), or they just ask you
to report the bug in the xbox beta app for windows 10.
