Cannot Play XBox Original Games Anymore

Why can't I play original Xbox games on my Xbox 360 anymore. I have the original Xbox 360 and I used to play original games when I had the 20 GB and 160 GB hard drives. I switched to the 250 GB (Lychee 250G External Hard Disk Drive HDD for Microsoft Xbox
360 Console - ordered it through Amazon), and I cannot play these games anymore. I get the following error message: "The game couldn't start. Try downloading the game again." I know thee Xbox has all of the updates; I did it online and even tried by burning
the updated on DVDs. Nothing works. Any suggestion would be welcomed. Thanks!

Xbox 360 cannot play original xbox games anymore

I have 3 original xbox games that used to run perfectly on my xbox 360. I have an official xbox hard drive. One of the games for the original xbox is Republic Commando, and it works perfectly fine. The other two games I have are Star Wars Battlefront 1 and
2. When I try to run one, it gets stuck on the original xbox loading screen, and a sound (that is the sound when an update window pops up) plays, but no update window is displayed. Then, when I remove the disc, for a fraction of a second an update window pops
up saying Update Required. The window then vanishes as quickly as it pops up, and the words and the options on the window are not displayed, only the title. Also, I started getting this about a month ago:

• Some Xbox Live content is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
  
  Status code: 8007274C

I could still play the games even if this notification popped up. I have never had an xbox live account before, and could still play my original xbox games.

So is there a way to update games without booting it up? Because both the 2 battlefront games are frozen on the xbox logo screen until I remove the discs.

In order for Original Xbox games to work on the Xbox 360 console, you will need an official Xbox 360 Hard Drive from Microsoft, which includes software to make the feature work. Since you mentioned you're using a 3rd party external drive, that would be the
cause for the error you're seeing.
