Cannot play XBOX "Cars" game on XBOX 360

I have been trying to get this play for a while now, no luck. I have an Xbox 360 with 320G HDD. Console update seems to be current (not sure how to confirm though), connected to xbox live and no message appears to update. I put the "Cars" disk in and an
error message comes up, "The game couldn't start, try downloading the game again." I have the disk, I did not download it.

I also try to sign into Xbox live on the console and it says that an account already exists. It does not want to let me just sign in, I can do it just fine on my iMac.

xbox 360 HDD

My 320G HDD does not play my original xbox game "Cars". The HDD is stamped "xbox 360" on the face. It also says "to be used with xbxox 360" on the back side. My question is will these aftermarket HDD run the original games? If not, maybe I can still use
it to run other games? Another question, do I need an HDD to run current games?

The game is backwards compatible.The only other thing is that your hard drive may not be an official Microsoft hdd,which you need to play backwards compatible games.

 

it is marked XBOX 360 and "Microsoft" comes up in the storage description.

 

Did it come with the console or was it purchased separately?

Knock-offs can be really hard to spot and usually this is the only way someone realizes they have a fake drive.

In regards to your account problem, try to recover the gamertag. If it exists and you can access it through the computer, then you can recover and download the profile to the console. I imagine you are trying to create a new one when that tag already exists
which is causing that problem.

 

A pic wouldn't do anything. Was it purchased new from a retailer or use/from a third party company like ebay? If it wasn't brand new then it's highly likely it's a knock off.
