Cannot play Fable (original) on Xbox 360

I purchased and downloaded Fable (original) on my Xbox 360, but when I try to play it, it still comes up with the message "This original Xbox game is not supported on your 360".

I don't understand why. It's listed in the backward compatibility list, and I've read plenty of other people who have played it with no problems. I'm signed in to Xbox Live and have made sure I have the latest update. What else can I do?

Note: this is not the "new" Fable game i.e. Fable Legends, rather it's Fable Anniversary which is an HD remaster of the (extended version of the) original Fable and is being released on the 360.

Will probably get this to play on my brother's 360 as I really enjoyed II and III

 

Fable XBox Originals Issues

I am trying to play Fable on the XBox 360, downloaded from Xbox.

I am using an Xbox 360 4GB console with an 120 GB HDD.

It just keeps saying "Fable will not launch. Try Re-downloading the game".

I followed the steps on the "Issues playing Xbox Originals" thread but they didn't work.

 

Do you have an official Xbox 360 hard drive? One is required in order to play backwards compatible games.

 

Did it come with the console or was it purchased separately? If it was purchased separately, was it purchased new or from a place like ebay?

 

It's working now. I don't know what changed, but right after I downloaded it from Xbox Live, it kept giving that error when I tried to play it. But 24 hours later, when I tried to play it, then it popped up this box that said I needed to download an update.
