Cannot play downloaded/installed games when connected to Xbox Live

All possible senario

DLC Games

1). Power on the Xbox 360 with auto sign-in enabled

2). Navigate to the Games ** by now will see recommended games still circling loading icon

3). Navigate to My Games > Launch a game

4). Experience black screen

5). Press guide button and xbox guide popup

6). Select Xbox Home and experience a console freeze

Disc Games

1). Power on the Xbox 360 with auto sign-in enabled

2). Insert disc, then Play Disc

3). Experience black screen

4). Press guide button and xbox guide popup

5). Select Xbox Home and experience a console freeze

Customizig Avatar

1). Power on the Xbox 360 with auto sign-in enabled

2). Navigate to the Social

3). Select Avatar then Select Customize Avatar

4). Experience black screen

5). Press guide button and xbox guide popup

6). Select Xbox Home and experience a console freeze

Apps

1). Power on the Xbox 360 with auto sign-in enabled

2). Navigate to the Apps > My Apps > Launch a youtube

3). Experience black screen

4). Press guide button and xbox guide popup

5). Select Xbox Home and experience a console freeze

 

In short any action that move away from dashboard will experience black screen

Hi guys! I think i have a solution to this that worked for me and very well could work for you!

Step 1) Sign in to your xbox live account.

Step 2) Go to your network settings and disconnect from your current network.

Step 3) Launch your desired game while offline and it shouldn't pop up with a black screen.

Step 4) Exit the game and reboot your xbox.

Step 5) Go to your settings and connect to your network.

Step 6) Launch your game again and the game will start normally and the online features should be available

i just started having this problem today. tried everything with still no avail. could the xbox itself be hooped?

 

Having same issue. Did all troubleshoot steps. None of my apps or games will play. This sucks.

Having same issue, none of the workaround steps are working for me either. Just constant black screens and freezing.

I am:

1. Powering on xbox with autosave enabled or disabled.

2. Trying to play a game connected or not to xbox live.

3. Getting nothing but a black screen.

4. Pushing my middle button, then anything except "Turn off Console", freezes the console.

 

And I have done all the troubleshooting and what not on this thread and nothing has helped.

 

I have the same problem! Worked fine yesterday playing Halo 4 at 18.00. Tried to play at 23.00 and got the black screen when trying to play Halo 4 again. I tried again, and nothing... Installed the game to the harddrive (as I suspected the CD to be broken).
Launched the game again, BLACK SCREEN.

Now I suspected that it was the console that was *** up. I tried different games and I get black screen on everyone. Like other says; the console is freezing when trying to get to dashboard from the black screen so you need to shut down the 360 and start
it up again. It does not matter which profile is logged in or if I am offline when trying to launch the game from the dashboard, it always gives the black screen!

Only solution to get in to the game is to set the 360 to play CD when starting the console. However, I have a lot of downloaded games which I cant play now. Have someone find any solution?

 

This is a known issue and It is also show at the status page here:

I advise to check the status page periodically to see if there is any change.

There are a few workarounds mentioned in this thread that do work for some.

 

And if you delete your profile and download it again, it works 1 time to launch a game. If you shut down your system it goes back to the black screen "virus" again. :/

 

Thanks for the link WPAK. I guess these temporary solutions will do until they have fixed the problem.

 

I'm having the same issue as Thomanji. It quite anoying have to say. I Hope this is quickly solvable.

 

I've been trying to fix this problem all day glad I saw this thread. Hopefully it gets fixed.
