Cannot pay for overdue payments with my Microsoft account balance

Good morning,

I forgot to turn off recurring billing when I bought XBOX Game pass Ultimate with my Microsoft account balance, which only had enough money in it to pay for one month of game pass ultimate. Yesterday I applied more money to my Microsoft balance via gift
code to pay the overdue payment so that I could turn off recurring billing, but despite having enough money in my account, I can't pay it off until I apply a credit/debit card, bank account, mobile phone, or paypal. I would prefer not to apply any of these
methods to my Microsoft account to be able to pay the overdue payment when I have enough to pay it off with my Microsoft account balance. How can I use my Microsoft account balance to pay for the overdue payment without applying another method of payment to
my account?
