Cannot pair Xbox One S controller wirelessly to Windows 10 via Bluetooth

Hey all,

I've got two Xbox One S controllers and I thought I'd try to pair one with my system via bluetooth. For some reason though my system can't find the controller. Bluetooth is turned on as is the controller and I hit the bind button on the controller and it's
waiting to pair. I click on the Add Bluetooth or other device + button and then choose "Everything else" but it doesn't show up. I can connect via USB.

But nothing works. I also downloaded the Xbox accessories app and it says the controller is up to date. I've tried both controllers, neither works.

Any idea how to get them to pair?

New Bluetooth Controller

I'm pretty sure the Bluetooth function of the controller is not to pair with the console, but rather a Windows 10 PC, or Windows 10 Mobile Phone (yes its confirmed). I am under the assumption the Xbox One S will not have Bluetooth, otherwise the Xbox One
S would just be a Bluetooth controller.

I am using Windows 10 x64, Kensington Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter and a new Xbox One S Bluetooth capable controller with the latest firmware.

In device manager it appears as Generic Bluetooth Radio, Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator.

I am unable to pair the controller. The PC just keeps searching. It did find a device once called "Game controller" but was unable to pair.

Any advice will be appreciated.

If none of the support steps in the two links you have provided has helped if may be worth downloading and running the Windows 10 Update Assistant by using the Update now in the link provided below to ensure your version of Windows 10 is fully up to date.

So I had some updates, downloaded and restarted 3 times until it spat out the message your system is up to date. Sadly this didn't fix the problem.

Are all Xbox One S controllers bluetooth compatible? It looks like the one in the image that they say is compatible but maybe it isn't? I just bought my Xbox One S on Black Friday 2017 from Bestbuy.

 

No other ideas? It's really irritating because my 360 wireless adapter broke and then I realized I had two Xbox One controllers and now neither of them will work either.

 

Ok so after close to 45 mins with MS live chat support (the agent was awesome btw) I accidentally stumbled upon the solution. If you also have problems connecting your Xbox Controller, instead of using the "Everything Else" option like all the official guides
say to do, use the regular "Bluetooth (Mice, Keyboards, Pens, or Audio and other kinds of Bluetooth devices)" option. My controller showed up in that list and is now working without issue.
