Cannot open any games or apps on Xbox one X

Whenever I try to open up a game or app, I get the message: "for some reason, X took too long to start." I've tried resetting my xbox, doing a soft reset(where I delete save/cache data, and profiles). After the soft reset, I was able to get a game to start,
but the audio was horribly out of sync, and the loading screens were taking forever. So, I quit of the game, tried relaunching it, and i was hit by the same error message again. Where do I go from here?

I am having the same problem with NBA 2K20 and only this game. I can't get passed halftime in a game without the my Xbox One X completely shutting down. When I turn the Xbox One X back on, I get a message that it shutdown to prevent overheating. The console
is in a well ventilated open space.

I have zero issues with any other game or app.

Thank you for the update. Let's try to manually install the Xbox Series X version.

Open the Xbox app on phone and sign in

Search for the game that cannot be installed

Press Download to console and select the destination console

Once the game has installed on that console, the disc can be inserted to play

I have followed your steps exactly but it does not work. The Xbox app is still behaving the same way and I still cannot open any of my Xbox games.

The Xbox 360 cannot connect to the Xbox app, only the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles can do that.
