Cannot manage external hard drive

    Cannot manage external hard drive


    I have a 4TB Seagate external hard drive that contains all my games and saved progress. My Xbox One shows the hard drive as detected in the Settings -> Storage and has it marked as the default storage. My games show up and play just fine.

    However, when I go to Games & Apps -> any game -> Manage Game, I don't see anything installed and the storage appears as "Unknown". This is causing any new games I install to actually be installed on my internal hard drive and not the external. Also, I am
    unable to move anything from my internal to the external, and the only option available is to delete/uninstall.

    This problem only recently started to happen, as I was not having any problems at all before with managing the external hard drive.

    Why is my Xbox One only having difficulty with the external hard drive in the a Manage screen? What can I do to get this to work again?

    Just an update, I believe it might be the external hard drive having issues. I emailed Seagate support for help as well.

    My Xbox One will not format my external

    If you have a Windows PC, connect the external hard drive to it and give it a reformat. Sometimes, people need to give a hard drive an extra reformat on the computer because it's currently in a format that the Xbox cannot change (for some reason).

    - Connect the external HDD to the PC.

    - Go to "My Computer" (Win+E)

    - Right click the external hard drive, and select "Format..."

    - Ensure it formats to "NTFS", leave all other settings the way they are.

    - After it finishes, attempt to format the drive on the Xbox again.

    NOTE: If your external hard drive came pre-formatted with more than one partition, you will need to reformat the entire drive so it has one and only one NTFS partition. You can manage disk partitions via "Disk Management" in Windows.

    Depending on the total size of games that have already been installed it is possible that the consoles internal hard drive may already be full. Please see the

    guide here     about managing storage.

    If the internal hard drive is full a compatible external hard drive can be used to expand the console memory. Details about adding an external hard drive is also detailed in the link I provided above.

    I cannot do anything with the hard drive itself I cannot reformat it. I have nothing on my external hard drive and it says I have a certain amount used. Same as before deleting
