Cannot log in to account, error 0x87DD0017

I got my kids a new xbox one for christmas, done the initial setup, made an account (and a second one), the system done an update. but i keep getting this error each time i try to login,

"We could not sign you in. Try again in a few minutes, or check your account by signing in to account.live.com. Sign in 0x87DD0017"

All i want to do is play a game, i dont need any internet stuff, no online stuff... just play the disc's i bought for it.

Tried with both Wifi/Ethernet cable, have 6.5MBps/down and 1MBps/up

no connection issues, the tests say my connection is fine.

i have tried the "cold restart", i have done a factory restore, i have tried to make a freshly new account, i have tried unplugging everything (power cables, let it sit for a minute), resetting the mac address.

all accounts can login to xbox.com fine, what else can i try? has anyone else had this issue?

all i want to do is play the games. why can we not simply put the disc in a play it?

it has now been 48 hours, and still nothing is working. santa spent all this money for what?

keen to try anything.

Sign in: 0x87DD0017

I can't sign in to my xbox account and keep getting the Sing in: 0x87DD0017 error. What's going on??

 

Xbox Error code 0x87DD0017 keeps coming up

every time I try to log in I get the error code 0x87DD0017. It has been happening for 3 weeks now and I've tried just about everything from hard resets to deleting and re-adding my account.

I have good Ethernet connection but it won't sign me in.
