Cannot link xbox account to microsoft one

Hello, i wanted to transfert/link my xbox(360) account to my microsoft(windows 10) one. But i can't, after some research, i discovered that my microsoft account receive a pregenerated gametag and that's what stopped me from linking. Now i'm wondering what
can i do to link the right account and remove/delete the gametag i did not create.

Your old gamertag is in the xbox 360 cache you have to go to settings and remove the linked account before you can add the new one. This happened to me 2 when i changed the lame tag microsoft assigned me. Even if you put the correct information and passcodes ot wont download your new gamertag until you remove the old linked accountClick to expand...

Uhhh.. Actually, i cannot figure out where to delete that old profile. it still comes up when i try logging into a Xbox 360 Live game.

I need to change the email associated with my xbox live account.

I cannot change the email on my xbox live account. I tried to link it to my microsoft account and the microsoft account generated a generic gamertag. I cannot verify my email address because it's an old yahoo account that has been closed and I cannot get
into it. PLEASE FREAKIN HELP ME.

We appreciate you reaching out to us. Unfortunately accounts cannot combined. Since two different accounts were created on two different e-mails, one would need to be chosen for both platforms. Also, keep in mind that you can log out of your gaming profile
on the Xbox App without logging out of your Microsoft Windows account. You can log out in the apps setting tab and you can log in with your Xbox information without hurting your Windows 10 login. Hopefully this cleared up some confusion.

Hi AlexTasovac!

Please be advised that Microsoft account and Xbox account are just one single account. They cannot be separated. If your Microsoft services or subscriptions are linked to that account, it will stay there with the Xbox account. What you can do is to transfer email address or alias from one account to another only if that email address is a 3rd party one. If that's Microsoft email, it cannot be transferred.

no you can't, it used to be possible before 2008 then everything was merged, the Xbox account IS the Microsoft account they are not just simply linked, they are one in the same, they cannot be separated or spilt in any way, you cannot reset the account either.

If you linked this deleted gmail account (that was your Microsoft account) to your PSN account, it cannot be unlinked.

If you recover this gmail account you can actually unlink it from your PSN account, but once you link a Microsoft account to a PSN account, you cannot link any other Microsoft account to it. Only the original one can be linked again.

you cant, epic changed this last year, once an epic account is linked to a microsoft/xbox account it cannot be linked to another, it can be unlinked but relinking must be back to the same account.
