Cannot install X360 update, error 43C5-0000-3080-0504-8007-0070

I have an X360 Slim, wired connection.

A week or so ago, my console wouldn't play a game disc (JC2) that I had played just the night before. It claimed I needed an update that it couldn't find in order to launch the game in the disc reader. I tried to launch each of my downloaded games, each
of those tried to update, failed and returned the 43C5-0000-3080-0504-8007-0070 error code.

My X-live account was still signing in and still allowing me to launch and watch apps such as Netflix and HBOGo, so no issues with X-live apparently, only that I can't play games. I probably should have just left well enough alone and been satisfied that
I could still use X-live, but I didn't.

I've owned this thing less than three years and spent more hours than I can count troubleshooting it; it blows up about 50% of the time when any game, app, or the console attempts to update.

Troubleshooting steps completed:

1. I attempted all of the "solutions" here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/games/update-games. None of those worked.
   
2. I downloaded a complete X360 update on a USB drive and tried to reinstall, the same error message and code is returned each time, 43C5-0000-3080-0504-8007-0070.
   

In the past, reinstalling the latest update from the USB drive has worked, but this just blew everything up. I can't update the system from the USB drive or from the test connection under Test Xbox Live Connection.

Finally, I've noticed the slim hard drive keeps needing to be reformatted. That didn't start happening until I attempted to reinstall the latest update from my USB drive, but now it happens each time. I don't know if that is because of my attempts to install
the update using the USB drive, or because my hard drive is a brick. It will hold formatting until I attempt to install the update.

I play very few games and mainly use the console for streaming video and TV, so maybe it is just time to call it quits and say sayonara to this lemon of a product and go with a cheap streaming only device, but if anyone has any suggested solutions, I'm all

Clear your cache and delete all updates via LB + RB + X twice on the storage device screen and try again.

 

As well as Irixion's answer you could also check to make sure you have enough storage space on your hard drive.

However, as you mentioned that your hard drive keeps needing a reformat that may be the issue here. Where did you get the drive from? If the drive is continually needing a reformat it is probably dying and in need of replacement.

 

Thanks Irixion and onyx62is. Unfortunately, clearing cache and attempting to wipe out all update via LB > RB > X times 2 didn't do any good. I just receive the 43C5-0000-3080-0504-8007-0070 error code again when it attempts to update directly from the LAN
connection or from the USB update I downloaded.

onyx62is - I only have the small factory hard drive that came with the slim, 3GB, or whatever it is. I've wiped out everything on the drive, and reformatted (which brings it down to 1.5 GB available, but I would think that should be more than enough to
cover system updates. I put everything else on SD cards using USB.

Sounds like I need to replace the factory hard drive.

 

It could be that because the update is for the game it must be put on the same drive as the game and that drive does not have enough space. JC2 is a little over 4GB as it is.

I would suggest purchasing an official Xbox hard drive for your console. As for the drive in your console it is built in and cannot be removed. Please remember that self repair of hardware is against the ToU and CoC of the Live service.
