Cannot install games

When installing games on the XBOX app on PC, the bar fills to 100% then returns the error code "0x87e00017". How do I solve this?

Hello Undertakecare,

Can you power cycle (support.xbox.com/.../power-cycle-console) your console? So if that fixes things we can know it's not something more serious at play here.

If your drive is USB-powered (i.e. it does not have an external power supply of its own, typically a 2.5" drive)), your console can turn it off if you go into Settings: Settings/Power&Startup/[select the tile with your energy mode] and in that sub-menu you
can toggle the option for turning the drive off. However, for wall-powered hard drives (i.e. 3.5" drives) I believe it will not turn off.

Sorry for this useless post, but it's solved. I need to start the game in order to make it install itself. That's stupid! Well, it's XBox, not PS4...

- Click in the search box on the taskbar.

- Type uac. A list of search results appears.

- Click “Change User Account Control settings”. The User Account Control Settings window appears.

- Set the UAC switch to any of the other options apart from Off.

- Click OK.

- Click Yes.

Then reinstall the EA Desktop App and try again

Try clearing the store cache as it solves almost all the issues, including 0x87e00017:

First, launch Command Prompt having administrative rights on the elevated console, then type wsreset.exe, and press Enter.

Wait a while as the code starts running and clearing the store cache.

When this process completes, Microsoft Store will launch automatically.

If the issue persists, Try to reset the Xbox game pass cache:

Press the Windows + S combination to launch the search bar, and type Xbox Game Pass in the text field.

Click on the top result and tap App Settings.

Scroll down to the Reset button, and click on it.

Finally, if you are asked for your consent, tap Reset again.
