Cannot Install Game Updates Automatically on Xbox Series X

Hello everyone,

I've recently encountered an issue with my Xbox Series X where game updates are not installing automatically as they should. I've checked to make sure my console is set to \"Instant-on\" mode, and I've confirmed that automatic updates are enabled within the system settings. Despite this, I'm still finding that updates for my games aren't downloading unless I manually initiate them.

I've also ensured that my console is connected to the internet with a stable connection, and I've tried restarting the console multiple times to see if that resolves the issue. Unfortunately, none of these steps have worked.

Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, were you able to find a solution? Any advice or steps I might have missed would be greatly appreciated!

I successfully resolved this by uninstalling and reinstalling the Game. XBOX ONE.The xbox ONe is set to automatically update and there were indications on the queue page that it was installing (the update before i uninstalled it) but no activity was taking place. I also have a series X which did update correctly and automatically.

Automatic game/system updates work with both power modes now, so you no longer have to use sleep mode (previously called "instant on").

Are you 100% sure it's not working? The Xbox will only check for updates once per day, so if you game most days or every day, there will be occasions where an update for a game has come out after your Xbox has already done its daily check.

Also, even though I'm not 100% sure how it works, a developer once told me that whether certain updates are pushed out to you also depends on when you last played a game, for example, if you haven't played a game in weeks it might not automatically update.

Does that delete any progress you have in the game?

Thank you for the update. Let's try to manually install the Xbox Series X version.

Open the Xbox app on phone and sign in

Search for the game that cannot be installed

Press Download to console and select the destination console

Once the game has installed on that console, the disc can be inserted to play

Hi, yes we have done numerous reinstalls and resets. We went back to game where we bought the disk today. The game downloaded fine on their machine (not an x) They felt the issue was with the update to the Series X. The game still cannot be played on my sons xbox X. It installs but then asks for an immediate update which will not complete. What else can we do to resolve this?
