Cannot install Forza Horizon 5 - Error code 0x87e00196

Uppon clicking on the install button, the game enters the intallation queu, but stops immedietly, with the error code: 0x87e00196

Platform: PC

OS: Windows 10 with latest updates

Game: Forza Horizon 5 (Premium)

So far tried withou luck:

- Other installation folder / drive (lots of free space)

- Restarting PC multiple times

- Log out and in multiple times

- Long list of various other stuffs, like deleting temp folders, etc...

Also:

- I have the same issue with this game on another computer

- I do NOT have issue with installing other games, like Forza Horizon 4

- I tried to log in with a different account that has Forza Horizon 5, works well on other PC, but I still get the same issue on mine.

- No specific antivirus that could block download.

I haven't tried:

- Reinstall Windows (this would be a last resort)

Well In my case I had to reset windows and after that it started working.

I tried many things but nothing worked. So in the end, I had to choose this hard option. But at least now I can play games.

j'ai eu le même problème que toi.

mais l'opération de supprimer par le POWERSHELL est la bonne méthode.

assures toi dans les applications qui se lancent au démarrage d'avoir désactiver le lancement de l'application XBOX.

tu relances ton PC et tu refais toute la manipulation décrite

surtout fais bien attention quand tu copie le nom du package de ne pas copier l'espace la fin du nom

ne sélectionne bien que les lettres !!

tu copie pour répondre la question et tu valide

ça devrait fonctionner.

Hey !

I'm experiencing the same issues : can't download or launch any game from the xbox app (just the games using EA game lauchers like Star wars jedi fallen order works). I tried many things I found here and there.

When I try to execute the command in powershell (even in admin mode) this message appears :

What is wronh here ?

It's like about 2 weeks i can't play my xbox game pass's games anymore... Pls hellpppp

im encountering the exact same issue. However when i put in "remove-Appxpackage –allusers" it asks me to give values for the parameters instead of just running the command. what should i do??

When you type code in shell:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices

will get some information

and then type code：

remove-Appxpackage –allusers

go back to the information，find a name call："PackageFullName"

copy the result，and then paste to shell

I do not know what I did differently, but after a few times doing what you said it just started to work. The last thing I did before it started to work was with the Powershell command, but once it finished running, I did not restart the PC, but only the MS Store, than when I opened up Xbox app it started to install the Gaming Service and it was good afterward. Fortunately I did not have to restore the windows. Thank you very much for all your help.
