    Cannot install apps using Xbox App, Error Code: 0x80070005


    I have recently upgraded to Windows 11, Afterwards, I could not install any apps using the Xbox Game Pass. I have not had this issue before. I've had this issue for upwards of a week,

    Every time I have attempted to install any app using the game pass, I get the error code: 0x80070005. I have attempted numerous things in order to try to fix this.

    I have attempted to

    Restart my computer

    Check the Xbox support page, for my error, thus resulting in a page that was meant for the console

    Checked my version of windows

    Reinstall the Xbox App (In an attempt to make sure that I have the most recent version)

    Reinstall the Microsoft Game Services

    I have attempted all of this as an administrator

    I did all of this on October 27th I believe.

    Oh, I'm sorry. It is not possible to do this on Windows 11.

    Do you currently have any Microsoft Store games installed on your PC, can you run these games? And this error code happens with every hard drive you try to install games on?

    Do me a favor, on your hard drive there is a folder called ''WpSystem'', take ownership of the folder and rename it to ''WpSystem.old'', save and try downloading the games again.

    If the problem persists, go to settings>system>advanced storage settings and click ''where new content is saved'' and try to change where new apps are saved to your hard drive and save and try downloading games again.

    Hi,

    Error 0x80070005 is an 'access denied' error code. It means that games and apps can't be installed due to file access restrictions.

    Did you use D:\ drive on a previous PC or previous install of Windows 10?

    Games and Apps on Windows 10 Store install to a folder called 'WindowsApps', if this folder already exists on your drive, you won't be able to install games.
