Cannot install apps or games through microsoft store - Error Code: 0x80242020

Hi there Andre welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. I suggest you try these basic troubleshooting steps!

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

Click Check for Updates;

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

Then try this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for gaming services app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then do the same for the Xbox app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Xbox app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

If it still doesn't work you're going to uninstall the games services using a powershell command, then you're going to open the gamepass app, it will ask you to download and install the game services again :

In the windows search bar type Powershell > Right click and select open as administrator > Type the command: "get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-Appxpackage –allusers" > Wait for the process to finish and then restart the PC, then open your Xbox gamepass app, it will ask you to install the gaming services again, install it and try again.

Yes usually that works, always when you cannot install a game through the console with some error or bug in the store app you can still do the install order (if your console is turn on) through the store website or the xbox app in mobile or windows 10.

I did the first link which was unsuccessful. As was repairing the Gaming Services, Xbox App and MS Store (all 3 repaired and reset).

I then tried the second link that you listed and deleted the WindowsApps folder on the drive that I'm trying to install on. I am now getting this error 0x80242020 as soon as the I hit the Install button in the Xbox app. I'm not sure what that error is.

Does this happen to every game you try to install? Have you tried to install games through the Xbox app and through the Microsoft Store?

Thanks for the reply and you' good to. Yes. I tried both on xbox app and MS Store. On the store, almost all games got the message on this tittle. On the xbox app it gives me de error code 0x00000001.

Neither worked. Also did a fresh start overnight and got everything back up by this morning (thank you cloud) and it's still happening. Now I am getting error code 0x87e00005. Steam games still working fine, app updates through the store are fine, just cannot download any xbox app or microsoft store games.
