    Cannot Hear Voices With Astro A50 - DD 7.1


    Hello,

    I have the Astro A50's gen 2 and I am using them on the xbox one console.

    I have the xbox one setup to use dolby digital 7.1 as per the instructions. I just realized the other day that I am not hearing character audio. Below are a few examples.

    Black Ops 3 - Zombie Mode I cannot hear what any of the characters are saying in game. Cut scene audio and everything else I hear fine.

    Madden 16 - I can hear everything but the announcers announcing the game.

    Im being told to change the setting to Stereo uncompressed, but if I do that then I lose the 7.1 I paid for!

    One Update to support optical DD 7.1

    According to Astro's website the a40's and a50's have the ability to process the stereo output from the Xbox one into 5.1 or 7.1. I have the Astro a50's and they seem to be processing the signal to 5.1 like the astro website stated. They also recommended
    to have the 7.1 button turned on.

    Headset gaming, have you really tried it?

    My thoughts are Astro A50s... cant play without that Dolby 7.1 3D surround sound, i can hear the direction and distance, its awesome

    7.1 surround sound headphones

    Typically you have a mix amp that plugs into the console. That is where the 7.1 sound comes from. For instance my Astro A50s came with a mix amp.

    @Kami. There is quite a bit more to it than that with these higher end ones. If it was just for night time gaming, everybody would just settle for a 60.00 pair of Turtle Beach X12's. Headsets like the Tangos and Astro A40/A50's offer very superior 7.1 surround
    sound and have pinpoint accuracy. It's really something you have to hear to believe.
