Cannot get One to output 5.1 sound

Hi, I know there's other threads on this subject and I've tried most if them I think. My set up is Xbox connected to TV via hdmi then to reciver via optical, this worked perfect with my old 360 and my other av equipment. But I've tried every option in
the settings and directly plugging the optical cable into the One to the receiver but still get no sound out of my rear speakers. Just wondering if anyone has any options cos I've no clue how to try and get it working, thanks.

Forcing 5.1 uncompressed audio on xbox one x

Just hooked my new xbox one x up to my system. Using a Sony 4K projector. Picture is fabulous but I cannot get the sound output right. I suspect my scaler EDID is passing back that the projector has 2 channel audio and not that it's passing audio to my 5.1
channel processor. All works fine with my Sky Q Silver box for UHD movies.

Is there any way to force the xbox one x to output 5.1 uncompressed? It works if I manually configure HDMI output but then it will not let me output 4k video...

So frustratingly close...

5.1 Surround on ReCore?

Is anybody else able to get 5.1 sound out of ReCore? This is the only XBOX One game I own that will only output in stereo.

 

Hi Proc! Can you verify the sound output setting in your Xbox One Settings menu? (Menu Button -> Settings -> Sound) In the section for Optical Audio, if you are set to Bitstream Out, there should be two sub-options - Dolby Digital and DTS. Often times, even
when a surround system or headset is capable of DTS, it won't output properly until switched over to Dolby Digital (and vice versa.) Experiment with those settings and see if you have any luck!

Also, possibly a dumb suggestion, but do you have a volume control for the separate channels? I know on my old surround system, I had a volume control for the front two speakers, and one for the rear two, which was a pain, because sometimes they got out
of balance or turned completely down. Just a thought, that if you have that, maybe your rear channels are muted or just turned down?

 

Hi Jaymo, my sounds settings currently are hdmi - 5.1 uncompressed, optical - Bitstream and Dolby Digital. I've tried setting hdmi to off & stereo as well as Bitstream and optical to DTS to no avail. I haven't adjusted the volume because like I said my other
av equipment works fine, it's just the one I get no rear sound with. Really frustrating as I love the console but it's a niggling problem.
