Cannot edit avatar from Games metro app in windows 8

ok new update. it worked.

after downloading silverlight i ended up going to the 'social' page

on the website and when i clicked to edit my avatar on the site...it worked.

and yes windows 8.1 literally is not set up for avatar editing in the app.

I have the same problem. I see nothing to edit re: the avatar. Samsung tablet w/8.1

 

Same here. I could edit in Windows 8 but not 8.1, and it's pissing me off.

 

Got the same problem on my laptop. It's maddening. Fix it Microsoft!

When trying to play the Avitar editor. Does it come up with any error codes or messages. If so, could you please list them.

Also, are you able to open the Avitar Editor on the Website?

Having the same problem

There are no error messages, and the Avatar Editor on the website just gives you a link to the games app.

This is 'tarded....

 

same problem here, some xbox games on my Windows 8.1 pc ask me to create an avatar in order to play, but i can't find anywhere a link to do that, neither online from xbox website and from xbox games app. I'm not able to change even my profile picture, it
asks me to change it from a xbox 360 console, but i don't own even a console! it's quite frustating.

This should be available via the web, if you have Silverlight installed:

- Go to Xbox.com and sign in with the same account information you use when playing games

- In the upper right of the page, click your Gamertag

- On this page, you should be able to click "Edit My Avatar"

Or, if you have opted to auto-sign in for xbox.com, you can use this link:
live.xbox.com/.../Profile

Other options would be using a Windows Phone, iOS, or Android device and installing the Xbox 360 edition of SmartGlass.

 

For Windows Phone specifically, you can do it through the Games Hub. You need to install Xbox Extras first from the Store. The option to edit Avatars is not in our version of Smartglass because it's all built into the platform itself.

 

thanks for the clue Randy, Msft Silverlight was disabled in IE (i don't know why). once enabled, all works perfectly, but only in desktop mode. With IE in metro mode still not works, but that's not a problem for me.

I need to change my Avatar on Windows 8.1 and I am having the same problem as everyone else... clicking on the link people are providing takes me to a page that says to click on "Games" and when I do it takes me back to my Xbox profile and there's still
no option to Edit it. I wonder if they will let us know when this has been fixed?

Dealing with the same problem here. No error messages, no option to even change it online just links us to the games app and there is no option for it.

After searching around. It appears that you are unable to edit your avatar within the Application, However you should be able to edit your avatar through the Xbox.com website, when you click onto your Gamertag. It will take you to your account, then it should
display the edit my avatar option under your avatar
