Cannot download Xbox Game Pass for PC games that require Administrator Approval

There's no way to place it on my desktop as it is a windows store app and those have to be launched from the start menu, and either way, I don't believe this would have helped as the xbox app just directs games to be installed through the microsoft store.

There is a big misunderstanding of how the Xbox App works on PC. The Xbox App is not a stand alone application like Steam, Origin or GoG Galaxy. In terms of downloading and even running games, the Xbox App is like a portal. When you chose to download a PC
game on the App, the download is sent to the Windows Store App, and it is the Windows Store that does the download. The Xbox App doesn't download anything.

Like wise, any error messages you get while downloading content using the App are Windows Error codes. As far as I can determine 0x8007001f is a Windows Update error.

Have you tried to repair your Windows install using the

Windows 10 media creation tool?

create a shortcut for the Game Pass App and put it on your desktop

right click on the icon for the shortcut and select Properties

select the Shortcut tab

select Advanced

select Run as Administrator

Many people have the problem where they cannot install any game that "requires administrator approval". I dont know if they consider this a bug or a feature in the Xbox (Beta) app.

When the xbox app goes to install a game, something prevents the standard administrator approval window from popping up to alllow the user to approve the install. After about 60 seconds, the installer times out and reports an error, as seen in the image
posted by Fredric. If a game does not require the admin approval window popup, the installation succeeds.
