    Cannot do system update or connect to xbox live


    I have recently got my xbox 360 back into action after the arrival of triplets a few years ago. It asks me to update the system if I want to use Xbox live, but the update fails because it cannot connect to Xbox live. I get the error:

    4099-0000-0080-0300-8007-0570

    Tried reformatting the storage, reseting the network etc. It connects to the internet fine, it is just Xbox live. Wasted 2 hours on this so far. 30 minutes to get chat to work (it won't) and this forum.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    system update

    I cannot connect to xbox live. Every time I try to sign in it tells me cannot connect system update unavailable. I have tried downloading the update onto a USB but it does not work. What do I do from here?

    Continued.

    that is to say it would not connect to xbox live prior to attempting offline update

    System has since reset and cannot get past the update system portion.

    I have an xbox360 we have not used for a while. When I start it up it says an update is available from xbox live. The download fails and fails and fails. It also says I cannot connect to xbox live until I get the update, which I cannot get. The system is
    basically useless. I have reset to defaults, tested connections, network statistics are soli, router connection is fine...just cannot do an update or connect to xbox live. Microsoft “support” was a nightmare to get to a human, and then got a useless cookie
    cutter link by way of an answer. There doesn’t seem to be any way to see if the console is using correct information to connect to xbox live (user, password, etc. Any Ideas before I throw this thing out?

    Thanks for the tip, Swash. Yes, if your console has not been on Xbox LIVE lately, please do that so we can make sure your console is updated. If you cannot connect to LIVE, try updating your console manually here:

    Hey there EnragedBubble5!

    Since you cannot connect to Xbox Live and you mention that you need to download an update. Are you able to do so by copying the update to a USB Flash Drive or burning the update to a CD or DVD as explained here and then installing? support.xbox.com/.../system-updates-info
