    Cannot connect to Xbox Live - very unusual issue.


    Hi there.

    I couldn't find anything on the forums or on Google that matches my issue, so I'm posting here in the hope that someone may be able to help me.

    Set up is Xbox 360 (original, not slim), connected by Ethernet to the router.

    Yesterday, I played a game, I used Youtube, and I streamed a movie from my Laptop. No issues at all. I turned it on today, and the initial spinning circle stayed on the screen. It has been taking a while lately, but I believe that is due to my profile
    being a few years old. It's rarely anything over a minute to boot. Now, however, it just stays there. I restarted the console without the ethernet plugged in, and it booted fine. I reconnected the ethernet cable, and found I can stream a video from my laptop
    (xbox to router via ethernet, and laptop to router via wi-fi), and I was also able to stream the Dragon Age trailer from the Dashboard. When I tried to connect to Xbox Live using my profile, it brought the 'Sign In' screen, and, again, the spinning circle
    won't stop - it just spins and spins. At the time of writing, it has been 'signing in' for around 45 minutes. Thus, I believe the issue to be with logging into Xbox Live on my profile.

    There are no other profiles on the console. I have deleted my profile, and downloaded it again. This worked fine, but, again, it won't sign into Xbox Live.

    I have run the network diagnostics on the console, and it can reach Xbox Live with no issues at all, everything checks out fine.

    Any ideas?

    Ryse Achievements not unlocking

    Live was having some connection issues the thing with achievement is if live is having issues you cannot unlock x1 achievements.
    The achievement community was groining about this yesterday as nothing was unlocking

    Xbox Live keeps disconnecting in the past couple of days - Damn irritated

    None of the above. I am sure that there is nothing wrong with the ports, ISP or cable. The xbox can connect to the internet even when it complains it cannot connect to live. The xbox is now on the DMZ. I am also monitoring my connection from my laptop. There
    are no dropped packets, any unusual variations in ping time. Connection speeds are well above those need for live.

    An unusual connection issue

    One thing to keep in mind with this router is that, although it is not confirmed, it does have issues with multiple console support. You can find the Overview in our Network Hardware Information forums for your particular modem here:

    What I would try initially would be to have your Xbox 360 disconnected completely, go into your modem settings and toggle UPnP which you can find under Advanced Setup on your Modems settings page. After turning it off, power cycle your modem, log back into
    the settings, and turn it on again. Power cycle your modem one more time and then try to connect using your Xbox One and report if it connects now. Also provide your Nat information which you can find under Network Settings when you are connected to your network.

    Make sure the vents aren't blocked. Try getting a vacuum with a brush attachment and brush out the top, bottom, and any vents on the console. Then get a can of compressed air and blow any small bits out.

    Is the internal fan working? You may be able to hear it or feel it blowing air about - if not it needs fixing by MS.

    If the fan seems to be OK, make sure all the vents are clear (brush/vacuum/canned air) and that there is sufficient space around the console to let hot air get away and not be sucked back into the console.

    is it standing on end, or flat? Whichever it is, try the other position.....
