Cannot connect to xbox live from this console???

Ok, my step sons xbox cannot connect to live. it connects thru a wired network. i've physically checked the wire for recent defects. this wire has been used with NO problems for the passed, i don't know how many years. no defects found. from the console,
i test the live connection. it connects from console all the way to xbox live no problem, according to the console test. when you then try to connect and sign in to live an error message pops up saying "this console cannot connect to xbox live...test your
network connection...80151014"

this doesn't make any sense??? has anyone had this problem before or does anyone know what is going on???

I can connect to Xbox live through "test Xbox live connection" but I'm not signed in. When I go to sign in it is successful but it disconnects me from Xbox live saying "your console cannot connect to Xbox live at this time" why the error code 80151991. I
cannot find any info on this error code. So to sum up. I can connect to Xbox live and sign in but not at the same time which is very annoying

This needs expanding

So after reading this post:

I should be able to connect to XBOX Live as it states. However I cannot on my XBOX One, connect to XBOX Live. Why does this article assume that just because you have an internet connection that you can connect to XBOX Live when that is clearly not the case.

I have an internet connection on my XBOX One.

I have a multiplayer Connection on my XBOX One

I cannot connect to XBOX Live.

Can someone please create an addition to this article that says if you cannot connect to XBOX Live after these steps have been completed then do this.

Have your son delete his profile only (not profile and items) then clear the cache 3 times and restart the console before redownloading the profile. That should solve the issue.

You can redownload the profile go to Social>Sign In/Out>Download Profile

Clear the cache by following the steps at the following link

support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

Xbox Originals need title updates from Xbox LIVE.

Banned consoles cannot connect to Xbox LIVE.

Answer: Yes, it removes the ability to play Xbox Originals.

If the console is blocked from connecting to Xbox Live, it can never connect to it again. It was blocked most likely due to either tampering/modification by a previous owner, or a significant amount of abuse coming from a previous owner/user.

Since it cannot connect to Xbox Live, you cannot download a Microsoft account/profile to it, I'm afraid. You should contact the seller and return the device, if at all possible.

Unfortunately, it seems like the console you got from your friend was permanently banned from Xbox Live since you cannot download your own account through Xbox Live. A permanently banned console cannot be used to connect to Xbox Live and therefore cannot
be used for any use that requires Xbox Live. You would only be able to use apps or features that do not require you to sign in.

My suggestion would be to return the console to your friend and get another one from a reputable retailer.
