Cannot Connect to XBOX Live (Error 800704DC)

Last Friday I was suddenly unable to connect to XBOX Live, receiving the error code 800704DC. I immediately contacted support and went through the following troubleshooting methods:

- Disconnect hard drive and restart

- Clear cache 3 times

- Change Microsoft Account Password

- Verify Microsoft Account security/contact info and settings

- Delete and attempt to download profile

- Attempt to download profile onto USB disk/another console

- Delete/reinstall XBOX Live update

- Reset network settings to default

- Delete 2 system files (I don't recall which ones)

None of these methods were successful and I was told that a specialist would get in touch within 4 days. That didn't happen. Each time I contact support for an update I'm told to just wait longer.

It is so disheartening that this can happen. Through no fault of my own I have lost access to my saved games, my downloaded games, and even Netflix and the only solution is to wait indefinitely. If there's anything else that I can try on my own in the meantime
I'd value any suggestions. Maybe closing my account and just starting over again is the best step forward. I could probably earn back all of my achievements before I am finally contacted, haha.

My profile was working just fine yesterday but this morning it said i cannot connect to xbox live and should try re downloading my profile so i did and i keep getting cannot download profiles right now 800704DC

 

xbox live connection shows that it is working but cannot connect

the xbox troubleshooting connection shows that live is working but when i try to connect it reads error code 800704DC and i am unable to connect; have tried shutting off/on, changing my password, etc.. any ideas?

Error code 800704DC refers to an authentication problem with your gamer profile.

From my perspective, I would say that you've taken all the proper steps that are possible, trying to resolve this from your end.

Try be patient until an official agent reach out to you with solution.

hope monger you are not alone with this problem. Please tell me that they contacted you and have advised you of how to resolve this issue. I've been waiting 3 days now and I've still not gotten a call. Did you delete your gamer profile also? If so how
were you able to get it back. Mine keeps telling me something like, Microsoft cannot download your gamer profile at this time, please try again later.

Please be a beacon of help.

 

Haha, I wish I had good news for you but I don't. I've been waiting 6 days now and haven't heard anything. Originally they said I'd be contacted within 4, but since then they don't really make estimates anymore. When I ask chat support about it they essentially
tell me to just wait longer.

It would be great if they had a way to see your position in the queue, or even dropped you a note that says 'Hey we got your request and haven't forgotten about you...' I've never had a support experience like this before. Meanwhile your console is essentially
useless without Live. Oh well

 

A simple courtesy call or e-mail would be nice. But getting nothing is absolutely ridiculous. I've been very patient but as the old saying goes, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease." I guess I'm going to have to call, throw an absolute fit and start demanding
that I not be ignored. I would understand if I didn't have to pay for this, but I did. Now I'm not getting a product I've paid for. It's like buying a new t.v. And the power cord doesn't work.

I was supposed to get an e-mail today and have gotten nothing. I'm frustrated.

 

Hey Sherman! OK good news this time. No, support hasn't gotten back to me after waiting a week - don't be ridiculous. However I did find some old posts on this forum that mentioned that purchasing and redeeming an Xbox Live card/code fixes the problem. I
figured I'd tried everything else, why not give it a shot? Anyhow this 100% works! I bought a 3 month code on Amazon and redeemed it on the Xbox Live website. You have to wait a few hours before your console stops throwing you odd errors [You may want to use
the time to start pricing a PS3 ] - but after that it works just fine.

When I get home tonight, I'm going to clear my cache again, then try to download my profile. I think I seen where that might work. If it doesn't, then I'll hop on the phone again and let them know that you fixed yours that way.

This is a joke. How did they even sell a single Xbox One with this horrible company? They have random gamers as their support team? LOL and they suggest a bunch of fail solutions that don't help anything and only make the problem worse / or just say things
to get you to shut up about the problem. Great job guys, this horrible support team probably couldn't even troubleshoot how to turn on a console without first rewiring your whole house.

 

So, has there been any other update this this other then getting a card? I started having the same issue last night, and I cant get anything to work. I had a rep on the phone with me for over and hour going through all the steps to try and fix this. Today
I reset my a lot of my wireless settings, had to deal with Comcast and try it from their end. Nothing has worked. The worst part is that I deleted my profile and now I cant get it back, so I cant even play stuff I want to offline.

My issue was a direct result to my 2 year plan. It was a mess up on their end and they have since gotten it fixed. If you are still having issues, and your on a 2 year plan, you will need to have support escalate the situation up and then start working
with people via e-mail.
