Cannot connect to network via 360

I was using wireless dsl before, recently I upgraded to 50mbps connection via comcast xfinity. I'm using a brand new out of the box 100mbps switch by netgear and a netgear modem. I've hardlined the connection to my xbox via ethernet cable from the switch
to the xbox. Switch is saying I have a great connection, xbox is saying I have no network to connect to even though it's plugged directly into the console. I keep getting this on startup and every error on network config:

You're console can't connect to xbox live. Do you want to exit your session and test your network connection?

This is happening even in the network config screen. What do I need to do to get on live to update my xbox and such?

xbox 360smart glass not working with my 8.1 machines HELP

I have the same issue.

Xbox 360 connected to router via cable.

Lenovo laptop running 8.1 connected to router via wireless.

Lumia Icon (Windows phone) connected to router via wireless.

All correctly using the same Microsoft account.

The phone can connect to the 360 just fine, the laptop's smartglass app cannot locate the 360. I have no idea why. The 360 network configuration is set to automatic. How am I supposed to get my PC app version of smart glass to connect to the 360?

Did everything on forums and youtube to test it out, cable ethernet from modem directly into xbox still no network found. Currently on windows 8 so no start menu, lot of issues tutorials started with "open start menu". Also no router, not planning on using
this as wifi but instead sticking with hardline cable speeds. Tried setting ip/dns manually by forums specs, same error. Tested 3 different ethernet cables so its not a faulty cable, tested outbound connections and it works fine. Switch reads 100%, speed division
is 50+MB dl and 6-10MB up.

Can you run a diagnostic test to Xbox Live (Test Xbox Live Connection) and let us know if this test fails to connect to Live, and if so, where does it fail to connect? Be sure to include any error code, or message you are getting.

But, before you run this test, reset your console's network settings to factory defaults and turn off your console.

Unplug the switch from your modem and power off your Netgear modem for 10 minutes.

Power on the modem and wait one minute for it to connect properly.

Now, connect your console directly to the modem and run a diagnostic test.

public IP address and moves packets between IP based networks.

Your switch is operating in layer 2 of the OSI, or TCP/IP model and is all sitting their within your LAN (Local Area Network), unable to multiplex outside of it's own network.
