Cannot connect to friends

I am not at my Xbox at the moment, but I performed a Connection Test yesterday, and the test showed no errors, and reported no NAT issues. My friend is online right now, he has an Open NAT as well.

I checked out the link you provided, and it seems my modem (Comtrend 5071T) is not listed in the Networking Hardware list. I wonder if maybe I just need to get an updated modem from my ISP...

Also of interest, I realized that our Internet service is of the PPPoE variety, which everything has been set up correctly on the modem. But I was curious, do I need to transfer all of the PPPoE settings to the router as well? I thought maybe that would
be interfering with the connection issue as well.

Okay. I talked with my friend, he said he is going to mess around with his network settings within the next few days, when he has time. I found out that he originally had his Xbox set to the DMZ. He also had two ports forwarded on his set-up and had uPnP
enabled. But he had since changed the IP address of his Xbox, without disabling the DMZ. While speaking to him today, he disabled the DMZ, leaving the network settings on the Xbox the same. He left uPnP enabled, and the ports forwarded that he had (80 and
3074, I believe), but we were unable to test our connectivity, due to time constraints.

I'm still caught on the PPPoE issue however. If anyone can advise on whether this would make a difference, I'm thinking about configuring the router to handle the PPPoE settings, rather than having it configured for DHCP. My internet connection is PPPoE,
so does the router need to be configured the same way?

I am able to join party chats and lobbies with other friends, so I will ask my friend to go through the NAT Troubleshooter when he is able to (Happy Easter!), but in the meantime, I am still curious: do I need to transfer the PPPoE settings of my modem to
the router? Currently the router is only configured for DHCP and somehow I think maybe that is the reason I'm having this problem...

First of all, thanks so much for taking the time to share your issue on the forums in such great detail! You mentioned here that you were seeing this issue when connecting to one particular friend correct? If you try to join a party with anyone else are you
seeing the same issues? It sounds as if the problem may actually be on your friend's end of things here.

Despite the lack of NAT warning on your friend's end they may want to try the steps in the

NAT Troubleshooter here. We would also recommend going over the steps in there for good measure just to be sure that nothing was missed on your end as well. Though from what we're seeing here it looks like you may have already done so.

For that matter, since you also mentioned that this problem came up with your new network equipment it seems very likely that this may end up being the culprit. In your situation we might try powering down the modem, router, and all connected devices completely
for five minutes. And when turning them back on, start by powering on the modem compltely, then the router, and finally the Xbox. 360 console.

Hopefully this info helps. Please keep us updated as we'd definitely like to see this get resolved for you!
