  1. Cannot connect to any wireless networks

I'm hoping someone here may have some advice or have come across this issue before. I've spent 4 hours speaking with xbox support today and can honestly say I do not feel any closer to resolving the issue! Anyway enough moaning, heres the issue:

I have a XboxOne which i've owned since launch. Its always been in this house, never been moved and has always been connected to the same wifi router since being set up on day 1. I last used my XboxOne on Thursday 4th June, where i had no issues with the
console at all. Today i went to use my XboxOne, only to find that it wouldn't connect to live. I went through all the troubleshooting steps, but kept being given the error message "Cannot connect to DHCP server".

Prior to contacting support i reset all my devices, tried a wired connection to the router (which works successfully) and tried connecting to my phone via a hotspot onto a 4g network which gave the same error. I tried assigning static IPs, setting up port
forwarding, giving priority etc all of which failed, so after exhausting all options i contacted xbox support via web chat .This took about an 1 1/2 during which time they told me it was my ISP causing the problems, despite the fact that I could connect with
a wired and was getting the same error with a 4g connection. The chat was ended with them telling me to do an offline OS update, which did not work.

Not wanting to endure web chat again i called MS this time and spent another 1 1/2 hours with support. Despite already doing so, i again went through power cycles with them, changing IP addresses, setting DNS addresses etc. all of which failed. Finally i
performed a system reset, then again tried all of the above but nothing worked. The adviser was stuck and said they would need to call me back tomorrow!

From going through all the settings the only thing that has changed between today and Thursday last week is the XboxOne OS version, which was updated on my console in the early hours of this morning. My router firmware is up-to-date, and was last update
in March and no new devices or anything that could cause interference has been added to the network. I did notice that when going through all the settings with support, my router could see the XboxOne, but not the other way round. The router would often display
the opposite IP to what the XboxOne would be using i.e. If it was currently set to manual the router would be finding it on its last used automatic IP and visa versa.

What Country/State/Province do you live in? Uk - Berkshire

    Modem brand & model number:

Router brand & model number: Apple Time Capsule 2tb

How many Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles are connected to this router?: 1 XboxOne

Wired or Wireless (for each console): Wireless

Things you have tried: As above

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/No/Unknown: Unknown

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?: It was initially open prior to all problems. Before the console reset it was coming up as closed, but is now chowing as open again.

Any Error Codes you encounter: Cannot connect to DCHP server

Who is your ISP? (Internet Service Provider): BT Infinity

    :)

    Hi byz,

Do you know if you have a duel band router? So sometimes this can be caused by chatter. Most likely your router is set to 2.4 frequency if you have a duel band router you could try and set up a second network with a 5 frequency and then just connect the
Xbox to that. But to be honest from what you are describing it does sound like your DCHP server on your router is not working correctly. your DHCP is what assigns private IP address and if your Xbox sometimes has a different IP to the one on your router than
they are not communicating correctly. Now maybe the issue is with the console but it is up to the router to give the IP address to the device not the other way around.

One other question, are you part of Xbox preview?

  6. Superhugmonkey, I've tried changing the dual bands to separate networks but it doesn't seem to be having any effect. I definitely think its the xbox as it won't connect to any wireless networks. I am currently waiting on MS to get back to me, they have stated
that the engineering team are looking into it. I'm not part of the preview program, but am hoping the next update will resolve the issues.

Cesar, i wouldn't get your hopes up about an alert, they were adamant it was my problem. However at a risk of coming off badly, I'm glad I'm not the only person affected by the problem if you know what i mean! Makes me feel better for not backing down to
support or paying £110 for a repair.
