Cannot connect/register to Xbox live

Every time we try and create our Xbox live account, we go through the process of putting in the email, choose preferences for marketing and then when it tries to finish the process, says something like "oops, something went wrong" or cannot complete at this
time etc.

I tried via laptop and got a "this page has been moved" or something to that effect?

How on earth can we log in? this has been a consistent problem since we've had the machine for over 3 years.

We have infinity character that we cannot even use because it has to connect to xbox live to be able to use.

I am beyond frustrated. Is this a country issue? (We are in South Africa)

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I think it will work, your Gamertag is tied to the country that you first registered in meaning no matter where you are, each time you connect to Live you connect to the marketplace of the region you registered in.

No, you cannot get rid of that "internet checking" message because your gamer profile was registered in Xbox Live and when your Xbox will not have Internet connection this message will pop-up while you will be signing in.

As stated in the popup, Xbox Live Rewards is transitioning to Microsoft Rewards, so you cannot register into the Xbox Live Rewards program.

Since the Xbox Live Rewards program is ending in your region, you cannot currently register into Xbox Live Rewards. You will have to wait for the Microsoft Rewards program to being in your region before registering into that program.
