Cannot change Xbox Privacy settings

I am attempting to change my privacy settings, in order to allow myself to see community creations. I am doing this because I am barred from many online functions in my games. When I try to apply changes to my account, they do not save, and instead when
they are applied I get an error message stating "Unexpected Error", and the settings don't change, still blocking me from using the in-game features. I am not banned from the game, since I have just downloaded and played the game today.
