Cannot change the Microsoft account associated with my gamertag.

Earlier today I tried to change the Microsoft account associated with my gamertag, and it appeared to succeed. However, when I log onto the account on xbox.com it still shows the account being connected to the gamertag. In addition, when I try to connect
a different gamertag to the account (that should no longer have any gamertag associated with it), I get an error saying that that account already has an xbox membership.

When going to my account settings on the console, it shows the new, correct email address as being used for the gamertag, but functionally nothing has changed.

Can't Swap Microsoft Accounts - multiple errors

So after speaking with support, here's all the reasons why you might be unable to swap accounts (mine was that I recovered my account onto the xbox one). Seems a little excessive, and silly if you ask me.

- After you create an Xbox Live gamertag, you cannot change the Microsoft account that is associated with the gamertag for 30 days.

- After you create a new Microsoft account and associate the new Microsoft account with your gamertag, you cannot change the account again for 30 days.

- The new Microsoft account cannot have been associated with any other gamertag or billing account in the last 30 days.

- You cannot change the Microsoft account that is associated with a profile if the profile has been recovered to a new device in the last 30 days.

- The 30 day waiting period starts again each time you recover your gamertag to a new device.

- Only one Microsoft account change is allowed in a 30-day period (one change per gamertag). If you recently changed your Microsoft account, you won't be able to change the Microsoft account again until 30 days have passed.

- You must also wait 30 days after the profile was recovered from Xbox LIVE to a console before changing the Microsoft account. If 30 days have not passed after recovering the gamertag.

Change microsoft account

I want to change my Microsoft account that my gamertag is associated with to a different one.

Trying to follow this guide

Hey mate, have you tried to usual when trying to sync up changes with your account? This is deleting the profile from the console (profile only), clear the system cache, restart the console and re-download the profile.

Delete and re-download profile:
support.xbox.com/.../profile-move-delete

Clear system cache:
support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

See how you go.

Technically transfers cannot be do but you can change the email address associated with a microsoft account.

In order to associate the gamertag with another account you will need to create a whole account with an email address and then do the following to associate the gamertag to that account. How

I'm not interested in changing my mail. My question is about changing the microsoft account associated with my gamertag on xbox live.

I wan't to associate my sons microsoft account with the gamertage on my Microsoft account. But thanks anyways...

Please make sure that the email address you want to transfer the Gamertag to is not yet linked to any Gamertag.

Here are a few things that I got from Xbox support.

The new Microsoft account cannot have been associated with any other gamertag or billing account in the last 30 days.

You cannot change the Microsoft account that is associated with a profile if the profile has been recovered to a new device in the last 30 days.

Only one Microsoft account change is allowed in a 30-day period (one change per gamertag). If you recently changed your Microsoft account, you won't be able to change the Microsoft account again until 30 days have passed.
