Cannot change gamer tag or use account balance for child account

Here is a summary of my issues:

1) I have a family account that has all the emails of my family connected

2) I myself had an xbox account connected to it for a while and now wanted to setup the account of my child

3) We made a mistake (Support already kindly pointed out that this is all my fault) when setting it up (and trying to change it) and are now stuck with a gamer tag for my child that has a random number on it

4) Now I am stuck paying money or using a completely new email for my son which I want to avoid

Here are all the things that don't work

A) Removing a xbox account from an existing email without completely deactivating the Microsoft account.

B) Reverting the gamer tag to before the incorrect change to give us another chance

C) Let me transfer my account balance into the account of my child. This seems like a feature that makes sense

D) Probably pushing it here, but if all of the above is too hard to do you can always wave the fee after I already spent money on xbox gold and the game for my son.

E) Too late, but please fix that UI on the xbox to make it less likely to accidentally choose a gamertag. Add proper back or cancel buttons to the UI on the xbox, not everyone is used to type and move around a screen with a XBox controller.

F) Since gamer tag changes seem to come with a fee, why is there no ask to the parent for approval on the first (free) change?

This is really a disappointing experience for me and my child.

The numbers at the end of a Gamer Tag are called suffix and they are auto-generated by Xbox to differentiate players. Gamertag has to be a unique to not have any Suffix. to know more about this and Gamertag change. please visit this

Xbox Profile and its content are linked to a Microsoft account. Nothing can be separated, it is all one thing. It requires a Microsoft account to use any Microsoft Services including Xbox.

Microsoft Balance cannot be transferred between accounts even in Family Group. You will have to add balance into your son's account If you wish to pay for gamertag change; but first, you must
disable the option 'Needs Organizer approval to buy things' .

Changing your ms account on your gamer tag doesn't make it an adult account if it was a child account to begin with

You need to wait till the gamer tag turns 18

Thanks for the quick reply.

He actually has a child account, but his 'gamer tag' is associated with my account. From what I have researched, you cannot move a gamer tag to a child account on an Xbox One. If that is not correct, any references to how to do it would be greatly appreciated.
If it matters, and I know it does for Xbox 360, I have an Office 365 subscription on my MS account. On a 360, that prevents moving gamer tags.

The reason you are unable to access the settings and get redirected is it is reading your account as a

child account. You will need the parent account to
change the settings.
The minimum age for an adult account is 18. You can change the birthdate on the Account website. Unfortunately, you are unable to change the birth date on Xbox.com. This is what keeps it a child account if the birthdate is under the age of 18. You can
