Cannot activate recurring billing as an adult must do it

My teenage son has just got an XBox One and has set it all up for himself and then asked for my credit card details. So far, so good. However, it asks for recurring billing which requires parental approval which I am happy to give, but cannot for the life
of me find out how to do it.

I already pay for Office 365 with recurring billing, but nothing else is showing up there. My son is part of our "Family" so everything else that he has done has shown up on my computer, but no sign of the recurring billing.

He had a 30 day Game Pass with his Xbox, so I assume that in 30 days time, the Xbox/Microsoft billing machine won't be able to bill for the monthly fee?

Any suggestions of how we can get around this? I imagine if we remove everything from the XBox and start again in my name, we will lose the benefit of the Game Pass.

Ok that indicates that it may be a problem with the router, now try the next step to see if it is completely solved.

You must have active periodic billing, therefore you must deactivate it for them, you must do the following:

Go to the Microsoft page, under subscriptions, and then look for recurring billing.

None of these suggestions solve the problem.

The account has never had a GamePass for PC subscription.

The account is part of a family group because it is a child account.

We are trying to use the GamePass for PC offer that is on the top banner of the Xbox app on my child's PC. We click the link, enter our billing information and get the error message: "You don't have permission to do this. An adult in your family needs to turn on recurring billing for you." We follow the instructions to "turn on recurring billing" but those instructions require an active subscription. The subscription can't be activated without recurring billing. Recurring billing requires an active subscription. It is a endless loop of frustration.

If activating a free trial of GamePass for PC is not an option on a child account, please stop advertising for it on child accounts. Or fix the bug in the system that created this loop so that you can give the next generation of GamePass subscribers a sneak peek at this platform.

Hello! You must log in the account that has active the xbox live gold membership and go to "Services & subscriptions" and there you can turn off recurring billing

Once you activate a trial subscription, the payment method cannot be removed; it must remain associated with your account. However, if you don't want to renew the subscription, you can disable recurring billing to avoid future charges.

Once recurring billing is disabled, the subscription will cancel when the current period ends, and you can remove your payment method.
